HI-FI NEWBIE NEEDS HELP!
cleeds, you are so tiresome in your deliberate misrepresentation of what I say.1 It was suggested that I think everything sounds the same.2 My answer was that this may be true in the case of electronics if some conditions are met. But those condit...
HI-FI NEWBIE NEEDS HELP!
Distortion and resolution are intimately related: with distortion you lose resolution. However, you are right there is a level at which distortion or non flat response become irrelevant, once they dive below the threshold of human hearing. That wa...
Reducing Background Noise On Records
Noise and limited dynamic range (and a few other issues) are inherent to the vinyl medium. You could of course rip to your computer and apply all kinds of digital tricks. But if you do, why bother with vinyl in the first place?

Sorry I cannot correct the typo anymore: 'convert' rather than 'cover'.

I don’t understand why you decided to cover the usb output from the streamer to optical, when the Dual Core has a usb input. I would get rid of it, and just connect via usb. USB is a very good digital connection, and measurably better than optica...
Audiophile Setup with an Iphone 7
The digital outputs of the Apple Airport Express or Apple TV and of the Chromecast Audio are bitperfect, and hence have no sonic signature. That would come from the DAC that one uses. An external DAC may improve the sound, but the inbuilt DAC of t...
HI-FI NEWBIE NEEDS HELP!
Just read my posts more carefully. I am not saying that everything sounds the same. I have argued that amplifiers may sound differently for a few identifiable and avoidable reasons commonly ignored by audiophiles, and not for the magic reasons tha...
HI-FI NEWBIE NEEDS HELP!
Thank you sir. I hate to admit that there are moments that I want to stop, with all the abuse that gets thrown at me.
Is powerfull Amps only for low sensitivity speakes?
Clearthink would you please do something about your grammar? It might just add some clarity.
Looking for speaker recommendations that I can purchase on Amazon.com
lou_setriodes,You are I think too fast in your scepticism about that Yamaha amplifier. Did you actually read the review of the Yamaha P3500S that I linked to, and the very detailed measurements that the reviewer published? These days I at least ra...
Full detailed sound at 30 - 40 - 50 dB
But if the total is low, the  components must be even lower (or theoretically at most equal).
Is powerfull Amps only for low sensitivity speakes?
But a powerful solid state amplifier allows you to use mostly far better inefficient speakers and avoid the distortion and non-flat frequency response of many tube amplifiers. Anyway, we are not going to persuade each other.
Is powerfull Amps only for low sensitivity speakes?
Just look at the Audio Precison graphs at different power output levels of a 2x350 watt Yamaha p3500s pro audio amplifier: http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/amplificateurs-de-puissance-haute-fidelite/mesures-ampli-yamaha-p...It is true that disto...
Quad 2905
Congratulations with some of the best speakers money can buy (I love my 2805s). The power is used to charge the membrane, amd once that is done it only needs to top that up. You can hear it when you pull the plug (deliberately or accidentally): th...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
Shadorne I agree this is an issue to be sorted out. From what I understand it mainly applies to popular recordings mostly recently mastered up to the very margin, so it would not occur with the kind of music I mostly listen to (classical and jazz)...
