Townshend Audio Podiums: The Full Review
Congrats! We'll expect a comprehensive review no later than this evening!
Best way to hook up Denafrips
I'm not a member of the Science! police, but have seen no compelling evidence whatsoever supporting the claim that an expensive USB cable can be superior to a solid, low cost version.
D’Agostino Progression integrated vs Gryphon Diablo 300
@pfrank12 I'd bet that a high percentage of those who have owned either amp have arrived at similar conclusions.I'm not suggesting that there aren't differences, but the vast majority of audiophiles would likely be very happy to own either one.
Audio Companies with Integrity??
With rare exceptions, I buy used components. One of those exceptions occurred recently when I made my first ever purchase of a stand-alone DAC. Having done plenty of research online, I opted for a Denafrips Pontus II, and have thus far been quite ...
D’Agostino Progression integrated vs Gryphon Diablo 300
Ludicrous. You can't accurately compare the two using different associated components, (presumably) music, and in different rooms. And we're still awaiting your insights into how the D’Agostino is "better made".
D’Agostino Progression integrated vs Gryphon Diablo 300
@ebm First, your claim would be far more compelling if it included some details. In what way(s) do you believe that the D’Agostino is better made? Secondly, under what conditions have you heard both? Did you really AB them, or did you hear them wi...
Moving up the Harbeth line
I moved up from toe P3s to the 30.1, and am happy. It is the natural sonic progression, with the same signature, coupled with the advantage of more bass and a larger soundstage. To be fair, though, I haven't auditioned the HL5+, and there are diffe...
Townshend Audio Podiums: The Full Review
A study in contrast:On one hand, you have @millercarbon and @prof contributing thoughtful, experience-based analyses of both the theory and practice of the science behind the Townshend product, and then, in blinding contrast, @bluemoodriver essent...
Looking to buy a power conditioner
I recently bought my first (used), an Isotek EVO Sirius. It has helped (e.g. seemingly lower noise floor), though the most obvious difference was in video. In fact, the difference was shocking!
Jazz for aficionados
Hank Mobley: Soul Station (XRCD)Just arrived today. Outstanding recording of a terrific album! It's my first XRCD, but I think I'll be digging into my pocket to buy more...
Recommend a dac that contributes to system for tight bass
Thanks @jjss49 – that was helpful.
Recommend a dac that contributes to system for tight bass
Yeah, I would be happy with an accurate, but warmish sound. At the same time, though, I am enjoying hearing some fine details through the Pontus that I cannot recall having heard previously. And I certainly wouldn't call it clinical.

It very difficult to compare, given that I wasn't able to really AB them together. I would say that the Electrocompaniet was a bit warmer. I like warmth, but am enjoying what I perceive to be a more neutral, and revealing sound from the Pontus.The...

I am using a Pontus II.I have read almost universal praise for the Ares and Pontus. As for Terminator flipping, I suspect is that those are mostly audiophiles who have a lot of money, and enjoy trying different components (or are never satisfied)....

I’m using a Denafrips Pontus; it’s my first stand-alone DAC. I am certainly happy with the sound it produces, and do believe that it in some respects it seems to produce a slightly different sound than my previous Electrocompaniet CD player, but a...
