The Avanti was too advanced for the whip to work very well.  However my Grandmother always used the whip on her old Rambler.  I am not sure it got it to go any faster, but the car seemed to enjoy it.  But that story gets a bit complicated.
The shams, scams and dead ends of the High Fidelity hobbie/passion/adiction
Or, perhaps, audio gear that has "balanced" inputs that when you look inside are just wired to be seen as unbalanced?  Oh, am I saying that many GM and Ford cars of the '70s were simply Chevys and Fords with different bumpers....Americans would ne...
A question about an older Rotel CD player I once had.
Alex, I agree....as a funny saying went,  "nostalgia just ain't what it used to be"  These are difficult times in many ways.  As in the depression and wars, humor, music, theater and films have had some of their most productive times.
O.K., downloads, streaming and more....but I still like many of my CD and SACD disks
Thank you all for your very helpful thoughts and experience.  I am pleased to read that civility is not dead on AudiogoN.  There are a few users that are not in a healthy state of mind.   And yes, I didn't know some of our national leaders were au...

Thanks for the replies.  So I can temper my senility with some thoughts that I might have know a bit about what I was hearing....ah yes, back when I could hear.  Just joking, but these are the times when we must not take ourselves too seriously.  ...
Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?

Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?
What's inside the box is secondary. ?  Not all speakers are boxes.Magnepan, Quad, Martin Logan and others.  But if a person wants a box with Scanspeak or other "of the shelf" drivers...that is good for them, it does help for making many more ch...
Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?
Most of the speakers I have owned and liked, with one exception, make their own, especially Magnepan.  The only speakers I have owned with off the shelf drivers were Dahlquist DQ-10,  I am sure if I were to start a "speaker company" tomorrow, it w...

Ebay and AudiogoN, listings and the economic crisis.
tomic6014,982 posts Besides audio gear, one of my passions was sports cars.  From driving at Road America and others to owning many sports car names you would recognize. When I was racing there was joke that said, "what's the difference between ow...

Advent 2 speakers in white, anyone else?
It was said that a designer named Andy Petite did the model 2 rather than Henry Kloss. It had the two angeled tweeters. Advent had introduced the Vidiobeam and when they first tested the Advent 2 with only one tweeter, the high freq. had little di...
What other Hobbies or Interests Do You Have?
Oh my, the time of my life and the funds available did have some impact on what I was "in to" at the time. To list a few, Luthier made Archtop guitars. Good wines from CA. and Bordeaux. Biking. I have done all of the old former railroad track trai...
