You should also consider VMPS ribbons. Rave reviews galore here: http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?t=13112Not to mention winning Best of High End at CES a couple of years ago. Bare minimum you should at least audition a pair in your...
What Preamp should I use
You should let us know your budget. Maybe you could try a used tube preamp? You could always get an Adcom GFP 555II for cheap and it's much better than the gfp1.
Vandersteen 3A Sig vs. Von Schweikert VR4 Jr.
VMPS ribbon monitors may be the best choice. The speed and naturalism with acoustic instruments must be heard to be believed. It's a serious contender in your price category and at least two reviewers have bought the speakers they reviewed. Also B...

They used to use BG's but now are using a superior ribbon design and have won best of high end at CES for technology and value. Many excellent reviews listed in a sticky at the beginning of the forum threads. Here's a link to their forum at audioc...
Sunfire vs. Definitive Technology subwoofers
Both great bang for the buck. Excellent reviews for both companies. The VMPS line has garnered rave reviews for their bass since the 80's. No servos, just high quality, low distortion and well controlled bass. HSU also makes very nice subs for the...

which amp should i get another marsh, aragon, eAR
Sounds to me like you either have a room mode situation(common) or may prefer a different speaker. Unless those qualities you're talking about are infintesimally off for your taste, you need possibly room treatment or different speakers. Try speak...
Subwoofer choice with B&W 805 Signatures?
VMPS subs do music excellently. Have received many great reviews both for speakers and subs as price is also excellent for what you get. For a grand you could have bass that rivals 3k subs. Check out the VMPS forum at audiocircle.com if you want t...
Which of These Budget SS Preamps?
Unless you've already tried a tube preamp now may be a good time to check on out. An Audio Research is what I'd recommend. You may find out you love it. Tube pre's need only tube changes every couple of years, other than that they're turnkey and t...
Best subwoofer for 2 channel Hi End system
amp they use now. Very musical and an extremely powerful capability. No servo's needed here as distortion is quite low already. At 140 lbs quite heavy. VMPS has been getting great reviews on their bass since the eighties. Bass is typically articul...

How do Adcom power amps sound?
You may also want to look at Rotel and Parasound. You're right, you need more power and better current capability. You'll be glad you did. I'd opt for my suggestions over the Adcom. Cheers
McIntosh solid state amps, left on at all times ?
Heat is the amplifier's enemy and would have to shorten the life. It takes so little time to warm up I don't understand why people worry about it. Also if your amp sounds so much different from warming it up for a little while compared to being le...

Best Tube Preamp for JC-1 Monoblocks?
Try an Audio Research they don't give up much at all of dynamics and many tubofiles consider them too SS sounding. I think it's a match made in heaven.
