Sunfire Signature or Aragon 8008BB to power SL3?
Well I wouldn't know but after alot of research on the net and over at Audioasylum I bought one and am very pleased to say the least. Over at AA there's numerous people raving as did Harry Pearson and the Absolute Sound and Stereo Times. For the m...
Better for Separates Newbie: Rotel or Adcom?
I've done a good number of transactions on Audiogon and have been very happy. The odds you'd be buying someone else's junk are remote. Most of us keep very good care of our gear. That and the fact that most of it is of very good quality make buyin...
Sunfire Signature or Aragon 8008BB to power SL3?
Are SL 3's electrostatics by Martin Logan? If so then the best amp would be the Innersound ESL. It was specifically designed for them and should be on your short list. Power is 300wpc into 8, 600wpc into 4. These sell for a tad more than an 8008st...
ESS Eclipse 500 Amp??
There's the Innersound ESL 300 that's designed for electrostatics. I've never heard of the ESS Eclipse 500 though. The Innersound is considered the best amp for stats by many btw.
Eminent Technology LFT-VIIIa --- what amp?
How about the Innersound ESL designed to really put out the kind of power electrostatics need. Also it garned alot of rave reviews. I believe the 300 is equivalent to a 1000wpc standard amp when driving the capacitive load of electrostatics.
Dedicate Cd player help
I find the Marantz SA8260 non fatiguing. Very nice sounding outperforming a Sony 555es by a significant margin. Can be had for 850 brand new from someone advertising here(sorry don't remember his moniker).
Speaker placement and Furniture -assitance needed
Bass traps will help in any room and I consider them mandatory for good sound. You're correct that you don't want to use the square room. Bass modes are enough of a problem in a rectangular room. Foam isn't much good for low frequencies. Rigid fib...
Is there any way to get into tubes for super cheap
Get an old Audio Research or Conrad Johnson tube preamp for 5 or 600 dollars. That's a great way to start. One thing you have to be careful of is to make sure there's no impedance mismatch once you start doing tubes. In this case you need to make ...
tweeters- metal or soft dome?
These days alot of makers are using ribbon tweeters these days. You should hear some speakers with ribbon tweeters also. You may find dome tweeters don't cut it for you.
tweeters- metal or soft dome?
You need to listen to the speakers to get an idea. There's alot of people who don't care for most metal domes but you need to hear the speakers. Just like anything there's good and bad of every example.
Vandy 2ci -- ??? Help with replacement ideas
Find some good monitors and a sub. For a thousand you can do it and probably outperform the Vandy's at the same time! Unfortunately my knowledge of monitors to look at is worthless.
Onix intergrated amps on AV123......

Help choosing Power Conditioner
I'll second those Powervar and Oneac units. They do what they're supposed to, are well engineered with quality components. I'd put them up against the audiophile grade conditioners at a multiple of their cost here and on Ebay.
Krell KBL or Krell KRC-3 or neither?
You'll be surprised what a couple of bass traps and dampening all first reflection points alone can do. That's where I'd spend my money first. Then the dedicated lines are a good idea too. They won't help near as much as the room treatment will, t...
Krell KBL or Krell KRC-3 or neither?
In response to your question are tubes more suitable for the midrange. This is a personal preference and also somewhat system dependent. If you haven't what tubes do to the sound you should at least give it a listen at a dealer. The Krell KRC-3 is...
