Behringer DEQ2496 - worth using in hi-end system?
Jayboard: Don't think about it any more. They're a killer bargain. My room is extensively treated with bass traps. You still have some frequency peaks and dips especially in the bass. The DEQ 2496 is wonderful. If you use the auto eq function be su...
Pre's for my A308cr
I've not used your amp but for 2200 there's alot to choose from. I'd try the Bel Canto Pre2 or the Edge G1. That's a very tough call as what your tastes are and what mine may be like are most likely different. I recently purchased a little know br...
full range signal to subwoofer
A sub should already handles by far the most power. Sending it the upper octaves shouldn't have hurt it at all. If it seems to be working ok then it is, don't worry about it. I've accidentally sent DC to my mains and sub a few times and never hurt...
Hey, we don't get no respect
Just like anything in life it depends on what it's worth to you. Unfortunately when it comes to alot of our market there are alot of products that are way over priced like th pair of speaker cables the guy is claiming he's almost giving away at 5,...
Tube pre-amps with Home Theater bypass...
Audio Research LS 16 MKII and probably the top model does too.
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years
Belles 350a should run very cool and has lots of power. It's less money too.
RECIEVER recommendations
The vintage Sansui, Marantz, Kenwood and Pioneer can have outstanding tuner sections in them. For 500 you can get a very nice one and send it to someone like Radio X and have it gone over. This is far better than buying most new ones in my opinion...
an upgrade from HSU-VTF-3 MKII..
The above poster is correct that if you don't have bass traps or some other way to minimize the bass response in your room then you should do that first. All rooms have large peaks and dips in the bass region depending on the dimensions of the roo...
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years
The Parasound JC1's would drive your Apogees and I believe there's a switch so you can change from 10 to 25 watts class A. Also Plinius may be a good choice.
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years
Presently I'm using an Innersound ESL amp with my Vmps RM 40's which are very revealing. This amp has the most smooth and effortless sound. It runs cool, is powerful(300wpc@8 & 600@4) and was designed to handle the highly capacitive load of el...
Best undiscovered speakers on the market today ?
Selah user reviews are extremely positive. Do a google. Also Selah has a forum at audiocircle.com. I've not heard them but after reading so many super rave reviews of Rick's speakers I'd suspect they do well especially for the money.
Speaker swap or Amp,which impacts more????
If you haven't considered room acoustics you should. This can have a very big improvement and the cost is excellent for the gains received. Also a Behringer DEQ 2496 can help alot. Otherwise I'd have to say speakers have a greater impact on the so...
How to pack - a primer
I like wrapping the piece in bubble wrap thoroughly then using peanuts. Uhaul sells boxes for 5 bucks that are heavy duty and sized for electronics. You can't really overpack. A friend who worked for Fedex told me that all packages should be able ...
Best bang for buck powercond. ?
I think the commercial grade Oneac and Powervar's are the best bang for the buck. These can be had on ebay for pennies on the dollar. They're actually designed to clean power for labs and other places where semiconductors that are sensitive to dir...
