Suggestions for next cartridge...
I have a Helikon mono, and I've owned a Lydian Beta in the past.  My next stereo cartridge is going to be a Lyra.  Which one I don't know yet.  I love the Lyra sound.  Table is a TNT 4 with an ET 2.5 with a Herron VTPH-2A.
Questions on Overhang/Cartridge Alignment using Dr Feikert Protractor on VPI Classic 3
I own the MoFi Geo-Disc for more years that I care to remember.  It works fine, but it isn't the most accurate device. The two things I don't like about it is you have to sight align a black ridge to point to the center of the tonearm bearing.  Mos...
How to isloate turntable motor from making a hum
You can try placing a grounded copper sheet between the TT and preamp, on the shelf where the turntable sits.
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
My own personal observation is that the table and arm are critical for getting the best out of any given cartridge.I've tried my $300 grado platinum (original) on both my Denon DP-1250 with a Magnepan Unitrac 1 arm and my TNT 4 with ET 2.5 Tonearm...

The Most Digital Recording You Ever Heard
In the early 80s, I bought a top of the line Denon CD player, and got a cd copy of Led Zeppelin 4.  I listened to it, then compared it to my vinyl copy (Logic DM101 tt, Signet tonearm, Monster Alpha cartridge).  I don't think I bought another CD u...
Vinyl Buyers: The Premium Price Vinyl v. Cheap Vinyl Ratio
Almost exclusively used early pressings.  I've bought some reissues of 90's alternative and grunge to have it on vinyl, can't say I've been terribly impressed.I have a fair sized collection of 50's and 60's jazz, almost all early pressings, about ...
You own a store, you sell 2 brands, which?
Denon for electronics, Martin Logan for speakers
Is improvisational jazz to impressionism art as smooth jazz is to realism art?
If my musical enjoyment is considered “paint by numbers” by some then that’s their prerogative to judge me.Dude, it was a joke. Well, mostly :)

... as smooth jazz is to paint by numbers.

Do you ever miss vintage gear you no longer have?
I miss my Eico ST-70 integrated. Not that I have a system that it would fit in with anymore, but that was one sweet sounding integrated.
Mono cartridge recommendation
The Lyra Helikon Mono got here a day early, and I was able to mount it at lunch time today. My first spin is is an original 6-eye Miles Davis Someday My Prince Will Come, CL 1656. Absolutely stunning.  Huge amounts of detail and realism.  Very neu...
Mono cartridge recommendation
There was a CL 1480 (mono) and a CS 1480 (stereo).  Most labels that put out stereo that early had to put out a mono because the most of the mono equipment back then couldn't do the stereo (no vertical compliance).
Mono cartridge recommendation
Elliott, Yeah, that was the first thing I found when doing research, but I considered it a done deal if I could win the auction for what I was willing to pay.  I haven't met a Lyra that didn't sound great to me.
