Welcome to the tweakend! mijostyn, BAT VK-30SE preamp on one, Herron VTPH-2A on the other. I may also try it under a secondary turntable I use for checking out used records at some point, but right now I don’t have a pile to check out.georgehifi, I may try that again at s...
Sudden development of more pops than usual. VPI TNT turntable. You need to make sure the tnt's bearing is grounded and that your arm's grounding is also intact. Also, a humidifier may help.
Bent spade terminal If possible, get rid of all the spades and just use the bare wire. The best termination is no termination.
Welcome to the tweakend! georgehifi,I tried the inner tube thing back in the 90s. I found it just about impossible to balance components where the center of mass was significantly off center. The Raquetteballs do have thicker rubber, but it's still the air inside the ball...
Vinyl...should I stay, or should I go? If you stay there will be trouble, if you go it will be double ;).
Welcome to the tweakend! Yes, the BAT has balls, and so does the Herron.
Welcome to the tweakend! Bingo! (the first one, well, maybe both. We'll see)I'll try and post some pics tonight if I get the chance.
Stratospheric audio gear prices I don't much care what a manufacturer chooses to charge or why.I also don't much care what someone else spends on whatever gear they want. That's really none of my business. What matters to me is how much I'm willing to spend. And what I'm willin...
Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system? I had Apogee Duetta IIs for years, loved the planar/ribbon sound. I had to put them in storage for a while, and one got damaged while moving them back. Long story short, I had a couple of DIY 2.5 way speakers based on Usher drivers I built that ...
Considering an integrated I'd keep the phono stage and get an integrated without one. You might find an integrated/receiver with with a "very good" phono stage, but it'll only be "very good" for a built in phono stage, probably won't be good compared with your standalone ...
How much reality do you really need? All I'm looking for is an emotional connection to the music and to understand where the composer/artist/performer etc. wants to take me and/or what they want me to feel or think about. And it doesn't take a ne plus ultra system to do that. In fact...
Dennesen ABLT-1 tonearm I played around with one many, many years ago, well before I got my ET2.5. Yes, it could be the pump, but it also could be that the manifold is clogged or otherwise damaged.I guess if you can get it cheap enough, it might be worth a shot, but it ...
step up transformer noise Is it better to position a step up transformer near the phonostage or near the turntable to prevent issues with hum?Best to keep anything with a strong magnetic field as far away from your TT and phono stage as possible.
Sota Eclipse packages for VPI tables. I'm going to go with the full package. I think I'm going to need to have the well of my motor housing milled out first. Apparently the Sota motor is deeper than the VPI Hurst motor.
Restored my dads R2R but no tape loop on integrated I believe there's a switch on the deck that allows you to output either the source or the tape heads. |
