Dustcover Blues
anti dust cover crowd  Sorry, but I was totally unaware that there was a "pro dust cover while playing the record" crowd.  I've never met anyone who has done this and I can't recall ever seeing a record playing with a dust cover on.

How about clear silicon caulking applied to the bottom edge of the dust cover?

Well, then, maybe you can seal your dustcover in such a way that it acts like a bell jar, and evacuate any air from it before you spin up the record (don't forget the remote control cuing lever).  No air, no feedback.
Adding a Herron VTSP 3A/360 Preamplifier to the system.
Congrats.  I have Keith's VTPH-2A phono pre, and it greatly improved my vinyl playback system.  I would probably have gone for the VTSP Reference if it had balanced ins/outs.

You can try moving the turntable to a low bass null point in your room. Otherwise, maybe a frame with silk streched over it to keep the dust out while playing the record. ETA:  Don't say nothing can pass above 2hz.  Springs will vibrate at harmon...

+1 shielded ICs If it is the phono pre, try grounding the chassis directly to a grounded outlet.
Audiophile virtues

Audiophile virtues
For me it's simple.  A great system is way more about what it makes me feel than what I have to listen for.  With a great system, I have a hard time trying to listen for all the boring audiophile attributes and get lost in the feelings and picture...
New cartridge selection: help wanted
Big Lyra fan here.
Third Party turntable motors
I upgraded to the Sota Total Eclipse package from the 300RPM VPI motor.  I believe it made a very nice improvement over the original motor.  You can feel that the Sota motor runs much more smoothly than the VPI Hurst motor.

What records?  I don't remember any records?  ;)
Triplanar Users VTA
@lewm I'm assuming he meant the actual numerical setting on the vta adjustment on the Tri-Planar.  He didn't even mention which revision, so I was going broad. :)

Differing platter heights and tonearm mounting heights and as @millercarbon said, cartridge variances make this question irrelevant.
Top 5 Reaons to NOT BUY A TURNTABLE.
Actually, he isn't wrong on any count.  Especially when he says he thinks records sound better.I've actually advised younger people who've heard my system the same.  I mean, does it really make sense to spend 10k+ on the vinyl part of your system ...
Soundsmith Strain Gauge - Thank You!
Know just what you mean. Herron VTPH2A. Koetsu Black Goldline. SG is really gonna be so much better?? Yeah, I think so. Or else why bother? I got the table, got the arm, nice rack and all, but I never heard me one of them primo top shelf carts. S...
