New Magico A1 Bookshelf Speakers!
Since it is Magico, I would expect reviews within a couple months of launch.  Should see something in Q1, 2020.  Regarding power, it would not shock me if the impedance is lower on those speakers and they will require a bit more oomph to do their ...
New Magico A1 Bookshelf Speakers!
I heard the Kaiser Chiara's in a shop in NYC side-by-side with the Magico S1s and Scansonics top of the line and they delivered as much detail as the Magico's with soundstage that was jaw-droppingly wide and deep.  It is a special speaker.  IMO, w...
New Magico A1 Bookshelf Speakers!
As someone who produces a $7K pair of speakers out of carbon fiber I am going to do some competitive intel at Capital Audiofest.  Argument is a rising tide raises all ships so having them promote interest in this price point will help me and Raidh...
beryllium vs diamond
@bifwynne     I never called Paradigm sonic swill.  I have heard six or eight paradigm products since the mid 90s and they have had a consistent sound.  Paradigm has some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fans of any brand.  I feel like they have...
What Unusual SET tubes you've tried & liked?
They are exceedingly uncommon/hard to find but have you considered a PX25?  Similar to a 2A3, Art Audio produced a 5w power amp for years using this tube and it is an interesting middle ground between a 300B and 2A3.
2A3 Tube Opinions
@enobenetto Not sure if he will do it for free but Upscale Audio definitely has the equipment to test those tubes.
speaker/stand, couple or isolate?
@boxer12. I had a pretty extensive conversation with distributor on this and I have a spare set of Gaia III feet lying around and just tested it. Distributor advice was touse the pucks.Isolating the speaker from the stand makes an obvious differen...
speaker/stand, couple or isolate?
I have tried this a couple different ways when I was working on stands for my speakers.I started with a high mass MDF with spikes coupled.  Good result, not great.  Moved to low mass metal (aluminum) with spike.  Bad result.  At advice from the wh...
Amp recommendation for Vandersteen Treo CT
My apologies for no looking at the Simaudio unit first.  I just assumed .  Silly of me.  The Musical Fidelity M6si is spot on what you are looking for then.  Price is exactly $2999, 220w and circuitry that should sound really good with your Treo C...
phono pre-amp being replaced
I have a Kleos on a Linn LP12 currently paired with an Art Audio Vinyl One Copper Reference. It pairs perfectly with the Kleos and has variable gain via a dial on the back. This was a step up for me from the PS Audio NuWave Phone converter and was...
Amp recommendation for Vandersteen Treo CT
For years, commsysman out in the stereophile forums has been a huge advocate for Vandersteen and Musical Fidelity.  He has the Treo's, not the Treo CTs, but has them paired with a Musical Fidelity M6 PRX with an ARC LS26 Preamp and has raved about...
need help regarding new Ayon spirit iii
Couple of questions - are you listening in pentode or triode?  What are your issues specifically with the sound?  Can you offer more nuance?Saying you don't like the PRaT and bass is sort of like saying I hate everything about the sound of this pa...
Separate Phono Pre - $$ before I will hear a SIGNIFICANT difference vs. integrated?
MF lx lps at $199 is a steal.  I will give that a 3rd!  Regarding interconnects, an entry level .5M cable from Kimber or Audioquest is more than adequate for what you need.
Balanced vs RCA between amp/preamp
Read third post down from KBK...great explanation.   https://www.stereophile.com/content/balanced-xlr-vs-unbalanced-rca-1 The fact that the Marantz units and your sources are not fully balanced means you will likely experience minimal gains vs. ...
What amp is best with Wilson Sasha DAW speakers
@rauliruegas  I think the MFs vs. the JC1 are technically relatively comparable units.  They are similarly priced and are directly competitive in many ways including power, overseas building, etc...  I would never buy the JC1s over the MF M8 500...
