First full review of the Verdant Blackthorns in Enjoy the Music @roxy54 To be clear, these speakers are not a work in progress. This speaker (Blackthorn 1) and the Nightshade 1 are complete and will remain unchanged so long as the drivers remain available from Eton. @jjss49 It is an interesting challenge to ...
First full review of the Verdant Blackthorns in Enjoy the Music Thank you. We are planning on being at AXPONA but don’t have a room assignment yet. I know the JD Events people are working on it.

Considering a POSSIBLE replacement for speakers. Opinions? I would look seriously at the current version of the Monitor Audio Silvers. I spent time with RS6 Silver speakers about 10 years ago when I was shopping. MA has actually improved those speakers pretty dramatically. As good as the RSs sound, the...
Best Integrated Amp (for me) A little patience will be required if one isn't listed but look for a used, Rega Elex R. That speaker likes a little power are needs about 70w of good quality current to sound great. The Brio is a little shy of what you need in terms of power bu...
Bookshelf/Small Speakers There are a million small speakers that range from $200 to $50k. Budget would be super helpful. If you like Thiels with a Carver Amp, I am going to guess the sound profile you like will be a bit forward. For sound, and not crazy expensive, I wo...
Reasonable integrated amp for Magico A3 The A3s are not as bright as other Magicos but they like power like other Magicos. It is possible, even likely, that you will find the Nova too bright and lacking in power/control over bass. At the NY Audioshow in 2018, the A3s were launched using...
Speaker suggestions please - going to the BIG city If you like the soundstage that the Martin Logans throw, I would look at either Raidho (X & C line models can be had in that price range) as I have heard the driven by a PrimaLuna amps and they do very well. Audiovector is another option thoug...
New Speakers $10K -$20K I would look at the Wilson Benesch Vector's and they will pair well with the WB Fulcrum as your center channel. I have the Vertexes here and they are one of the cleanest, most transparent speakers I have ever heard but without being bright. The ...
PS auido Direct stream Dac I had a DSD for several years. Sold it for $3500 about a year ago I think. It is excellent, though a bit dated and as others have pointed out, is no longer going to be updated.it was never clear that an update was going to make is sound better so...
AudioByte Vox | Zap vs Rockna Wavelight That is a great question. It can be controlled directly on the touch screen or via the app.
AudioByte Vox | Zap vs Rockna Wavelight I expect two pairs of Vox/Zaps to ship around the 20th of this month. I will get the compare done as quickly as possible after. The Hubs will most likely be about a month behind. My plan is to compare both of these to a Chord TT2 as well given ...
AudioByte Vox | Zap vs Rockna Wavelight The unit that is 4x the price is the Wavedream Signature. The Wavelight is $4950 while the HydraVox/Zap combo $4500 list. The difference is the Audiobyte is a pure FPGA DAC while the Wavelight is an R2R DAC with an FPGA front end. OCD Guy is no...
Has anyone compared the Terminator Plus to the Holo Audio May (KTE edition)? The difference between the 501 and 502 is the headphone amp. The 502 has a fully balanced headphone amp while the 501 does not. The DACs and other features are identical between the two units which is why there is only $1000 difference in price.
Has anyone compared the Terminator Plus to the Holo Audio May (KTE edition)? I just had a customer do a side-by-side between the Weiss 501 DAC and a Denafrips Terminator+ and he said it wasn’t even close. The Weiss is far better. He does place a premium on detail and imaging vs warmth. In addition to the Weiss 501 which i... |
