Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
I'm with Mr Miller. Clamp it down. I also have the cabinet bolted to a brick wall that my VPI HW MK IV is sitting on.I have a Velodyne 15" sub with it's pwn power supply, and use Altec 604Cs. No pumping unless I dial up the sub volume, which is no...

Yes. vdH. Been sending them there for decades. I get nervous with the thing in the mail but there haven’t been any mishaps yet. I hear there is a guy in NJ that is supposed to be good and that I could drive it to but I have no experience with him.

Cd318,I found the Shure V15 type III, IV, V and MR on eBay. ONE of them is supposed to be the one, the others, also-rans. Supposedly useless without the microridge stylus. ?

Mammithguy54,I have heard from a few people that the remasters are good. I’ll let you know if my experience is any better than yours. I’m guessing you are the same age as I am.
Analog or Digital and why?
I’ve been listening to vinyl for 55 years. It’s what I have learned to listen to and what I have accustomed myself to. I have 6,000+ LPs, maybe 300 CDs. Digital sounds thin and sometimes gritty to me.I am able to hear - without knowing beforehand ...

Btw, I just bought the 2-LP sets of the Jimmy Page remasters of Zoso and Houses of the Holy. I have all the Led Zeppelin LPs except for the last two.

Does the first reflection point actually matter??
For what it is worth:The wife and I bought a distressed 3.5 story townhouse in the city of Newburgh NY for super cheap and did a top down restoration. Except for the top attic floor. It is there that I have my home office, studio and listening roo...

I neglected to add that I use the Onyx for serious listening, which is 95% of my listening, the Rosewood as backup when the Onyx is being refurbished, and the Benz for parties and certain monophonic and pop LPs from the 50s and 60s.

My personal experience for what it is worth. - I bought my first vinyl LP - Rolling Stones 12 x 5 - when I was 9. That is 57 years ago. - when I was 14, I built my own “serious” system: Dyna PAS and Dyna 70 kits, Lafayette speakers, Grarard table ...
I think some cables are just a little too expensive.
oldhvymec"Allow"? It wasn’t allowed in the 1950s. We had a 90% tax rate, ... and we had David Hafler. The Dyna Stereo-70 amplifier was launched in 1959, and more than 350,000 sold before production ceased, making the ST-70 the most popular tube po...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
The hobby itself.
Concrete Audio Speakers...Speaker Enclosures made out of Concrete ?..
hdclsRegarding horns: the room matters. I have had Altec 604Cs for ... 43 years now. They DID sound a little horny (tsk tsk) at first (and I have stayed with these speakers because at my price point, to my ears there is nothing that comes close to...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
What matters is the table/arm/cartridge interface. If they don't "have chemistry", it doesn't matter how much you spend on one over the other.I remember buying a Grado at the upper end of their offerings and installing it in my Sumiko MMT arm on m...
