What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital? And as for room treatments, mine is semi-anechoic. Walls and ceiling covered with rock wool and burlap.
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital? I am, for all intents and purposes, 100% vinyl. I do have a CD player. I still have cassette tapes. I listen to them when it’s not available on vinyl. I don’t stream.
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire? I borrowed Vincent Van Gogh‘a knife the other day. I sliced off both earlobes, swapped them left to right, sutured them back on. Darn what a difference!
Ready, set, comment! Speaker cables don’t make a difference? I worked as an art director / creative director in pharmaceutical advertising for 25 years. I learned how to read the clinical trials, efficacy and safety data, about the strength of placebo effects, etc. Until I see randomized blind studies invol...
Is louder better? dweller,it is not my experience that all systems sound good at moderate levels. The best systems sound great at moderate levels. Mediocre systems need to be cranked up to give the impression of sounding better, all they are doing is amplifying eve...
members and their systems Milliercarbon:Isn’t the question of what one “earns” a loaded question in such an unequal society? I’m not saying that I care to draw that line somewhere in the middle of this forum. Just sayin’
For all you Vinyl lovers! - Tony, thank you- As for OMA, if he really wants to change the culture around sound, the audio designer needs to shift his focus to affordability. David Hafler, where are you? You are needed now more than ever.
I just bought a Steinway which sounds like a banjo. I have the best audio system. Go ahead, stop me.
Is this an right time to buy hifi? Thomas Jefferson died millions in debt but he had his slaves and nobody remembers either.
How loud are you typically listening? That’s an open ended question. How loud do I play what? A Bach violin sonata, or God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols, or somewhere in between, say Joni Mitchell’s Song for the Seagulls?I would say that it ranges from 55 to 90, more or less. And i...
Ready, set, comment! Speaker cables don’t make a difference? Now that weed is legal in NY State, it ain’t as much fun, as the late great John Hartford once said. BUT, dollars on weed is way better spent - and much much cheaper - than $s on cable and speaker interconnects. And as an added bonus: it makes sex...
Looking for my Final Pair!! What happened? We’re you in multiple accidents? The pair I was born with, still runnin’ strong. I think...
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them! Don’t listen to Millercarbon. Go with a Dyna 70. It’s even sorta period correct. There are many available as stock, or modified as this one is:https://www.ebay.com/itm/DYNACO-DYNAKIT-VTA-ST-70-Tube-Amplifier-NEW-Build-/154394386390?_trksid=p23...S...
Are "vintage" DAC's worthwhile, or is this a tech that does not age well Sounds oxymoronic to me, but what do I know: Music Choice only goes back to the 80s, no 60s!!!!
Horn speakers , high efficiency but not “shouty” I don’t see horns in either of those two examples. What am I missing? I’m old school. I have been living with Altec Lansing 604Cs for 44 years. 101db efficiency, 16 ohms, driven by Futterman OTL3s converted to triode (eight General Electric 6LF6 t... |
