Who says cables don't make a difference?
$12,000 cables is conspicuous consumption especially when the laws of diminishing returns, if not gravity itself combined with the placebo effect kick in, and therefore immoral imho. Use lamp wire and feed the starving children in Bangladesh.

The Law of Diminishing Returns applies especially in this category. That’s all I’m gonna say. 🙄
Which one to choose between two 80K$ tube amps?
charles1dad:Spending choices invites a range of responses in a community with different levels of resources. I don't see why that should be so surprising in this day and age, especially after the worldwide discussion on inequality sparked by Piket...

Loudness - Why has the industry stopped producing amplifiers with this feature any longer?
I have no loudness or tone controls. I’m sure others have explained better than I can why the shortest distance from A to B is an engineers goal. If you MUST have a tone variability option, tone controls provide more flexibility. Loudness was a ch...
Tube versus SS
Speculative, anecdotal at best with regard to COVID19. My stereo (just dated myself: who uses “stereo” anymore? It’s “audio”) sounds horrible when it’s humid out. Does everybody else’s? I don’t think so. As for ss v tube: ss sounds less colored mo...

Whats playing on your system today?
Fairport Convention with Sandy Denny at My Father’s Place in Roslyn NY. I was at that concert in the spring of 1974.

Most useful tweaks that are sensible and really make a noticeable improvement
Geoffkait:i think its a NYC thing. I lived on a busy thoroughfare in NoHo / East Village. Dozens of taxicabs go by per hour. When I removed the cage, the RF went way up. Now that I’m in Newburgh, I should try removing the cage and see what happens...

Room improvement
For 41 years, my room was a 1100 sq ft area of a warehouse loft, with 9 ft tall brick walls, tin ceiling, hardwood floor, and 4 x 6 ft windows. For about 9 months now, the room is an attic in a brownstone with a peaked roof, a gable, two dormers, ...
What’s your vote for the most ridiculous, overpriced, and useless tweak?
How about 25 ft of audio cable for $15,000?https://www.morrowaudio.com/collections/interconnect-pair/products/anniversary-interconnect-pair-288...I’m using wire from a chain link fence lately. Sounds great!
