Atohm GT1 SE vs KEF LS50 Glad to hear you're sticking to the strength of your own convictions and not following the sheep.
New Speaker Conundrum - Vandy's, Spendors, Salk, Ascend - Mainstream or ID The SS 9.5 is Salk's best speaker. The only issue is where to audition it. But if you can hear the Song 3 BeAT or the larger Song 3 Encore, that will give you more than a taste of the 9.5.
dissapointed - new LS50w's vs old PioneerFS52's/Luxman R113 - so far Kef's not so great? LS50's are the poster child for why one should never believe "professional" reviews.
Are sound bars worth it? I run a ZVOX soundbase (the deep cabinet style) that the OLED sits on. They’re pretty much identical widths. So far so good. And it enables me to keep the two systems separate, which I prefer.
Isoacoustics Gaia Speaker Footers Normally you see Gaias attached to floorstanders. I keep wondering how they would work on standmounts. Would you put them on the feet of the stands, or at the interface between the speaker and the top of the stand? Would they be as effective, o...
Yamaha NS 5000 @steve59 See my post from November 1. Distribution initially will be very limited and through a handful of stores selected by Yamaha. How those stores demo the speakers is obviously less carefully curated by Yamaha.
Blown away with 2 speakers hifi sound! No love for the new CD player? Seems unfair to me.
Bending wave, low order crossovers and tradeoffs I dunno. Frankly, I don’t really understand how they work. At CAF the designer Paul Paddock was there with a guy doing the dog and pony, and PP was pretty cagey about the details. This is him:https://patents.justia.com/inventor/paul-w-paddock They ...
Bending wave, low order crossovers and tradeoffs Erik,For some really interesting technology, look beyond the Manger to the MC AudioTech Forty-10 speaker. I heard it at CAF 2018 and it was pretty much my best of show."Hidden in the high-frequency spaced array are 10 identical bending- wave driv...
Acoustic panels on ceiling The mirror technique will work if you can MacGyver a way to hold it and move it. If it were me, I'd start approximately half way between ears and front plane of speakers, and then explore a little fore and aft.
New Speaker Conundrum - Vandy's, Spendors, Salk, Ascend - Mainstream or ID Definitely listen to the ProAcs. If you like them, you should then try the D9s, and see which you prefer (it might be a close-run thing).
Suggestions for bookshelf speakers that have great dynamics, budget of $500 used. VA speakers tend to be very natural/a little forgiving (choose your epithet). My favs are the Beethoven Baby Grand and the Liszt; I imagine these characteristics extend to most if not all models (not quite so keen on the Beethoven Concert Grands).
Isotek Sigmas or PS Audio P15 They have a new model the Nova that is a larger Sigmas with a Synchro unit built in.
Sony TA AV 670 opinions It is part of the ES series, but as an integrated towards the lower end of that line. The separates are more desirable. Your exact model was listed last year with an asking price of $300. Who knows what it actually sold for.
Isotek Sigmas or PS Audio P15 I've had a Sigmas Evo 3 and PSA P10 side by side. In my system, with the components I had then, the multiwave adjustments on the P10 created various levels of hum on most settings. I bought the Evo 3.Today, if I had it to do over again, with pro... |
