VPI redesigning experiment
Ted, congratulations on your adventure. I would like to suggest using the Sistrum Audiopoints under the plinth instead of the cork/rubber feet. They are made of brass, and very well designed. I have them under the wood base of my Teres, and am ver...
60 dB phono, 19 dB preamp, Enough gain?
Herman, I think you'll be ok with that.
Upgrades for a cheapo tube linestage
Hi David. I think that tube sockets may make a difference for you. I also think that improving the quality of the input/output jacks would help. Also changing any of the point to point wiring with something like Cardas wire would be good. Upgradin...
rega rb300 wire
I'd recommend using up-market wire for the RB300. They are not known for the greatest wire, and could benefit from something better, if you have to replace it anyway. Origin Live and Expressimo have some, as well as Incognito.
Advise on phono cable please
Romexwerx, you are providing yourself with your own punishment for taking a view that "wire is wire". It is clearly not the case, so you are relegating your own system to poorer performance than needed, simply because of your closed-minded positio...
MM or MC cartridge.....
Yes David, I know you know the difference, and you are enjoying a nice MC cartridge of your own. I'm glad you are. You should do a review of it, because most people are not aware of that particular version of the 103 that you have.

Expressimo Heavyweight Counterweight is a good mod. Improves tracking, sounds better, cheap to buy.
Where can I hear Teres
Dmailer, yes I agree that my styling opinion is definitely subjective to my tastes. I can also see that the Teres may not appeal to others as well. From what I have read on the Redpoint, it has all the earmarks of a fine sounding turntable, that m...
Where can I hear Teres
Bryan, thanks for the calculations. I was sure that it was more than they were stating. Regarding the massiveness of the bearing housing, it is at the point where it is so massive already, that I really don't see why any larger is better. The Tere...
Where can I hear Teres
Bryan, the bearing housing is not actually the mounting stub. The bearing housing is above the mounting stub, and the stub is just the connector that goes through the plinth. They are all one piece, but the upper part houses the bearing and the lo...
"Polyamping" A Look to the Future or Fancy Fad?
Actively driving the speaker with one amp per driver, is the oldest method of electronic sound reproduction known. It started with the earliest sound systems with mono amp and single driver speaker. As such, it can hardly be considered either a "l...
Where can I hear Teres
Ok. First the Teres is available as an assembled TT, so it is a "retail commercial product", as well as a DIY product, depending upon how you want to buy it. The Redpoint is made by some of the early Teres participants, and their intention was to ...
No Ground on Thorens TD 145 MKII + some questions
If you want to ground it, attach a wire to the metal subchassis, and put that to your ground lug.I don't know about the platter thing.
