Purist Audio Colossus speaker cables... wow
Try the Purist Audio Venustas cables. They are a new series from Purist, and are reputed to be close to Dominus, at a lower price. For a very low price, even the new Museaus cables from Purist are supposed to be very good. I just rewired my intern...
Omega ts1 loudspeakers.....
I haven't heard the Omega speakers, but I am pretty familiar with single driver sound. I'd say in general the highs will not be rolled-off, unless your amp is doing the rolling off. But the bass will be somewhat limited in how deep it goes, and th...
Initial Impressions of the Bluenote Bellavista Sig

SET DIY compared to Wavelength or Commercial Brand
Richard, I am really not trying to sound like a "smart-ass", but that is sort of like asking you,"If a meal is so easy to prepare, why hire a chef?"The fact is that experts can do things better than novices. If you can take a design that is known ...
Here's one for ya Part 2
Dave, the feedback issue is based upon whatever frequency vibrations are getting through the shelf into the TT. You might try using various weights on the shelf, and see if you can find a particular weight that brings it into a zone the TT suspens...
Here's one for ya Part 2
Dave, try relocating your TT onto a stand. This may change the nature of the vibrations that are reaching your platter. It is also possible that the TT is in a place in the room which has alot of bass excitation. Having the TT on a stand would all...
How Do You Price to Sell Classical LPs?
I'm not sure of the value of that particular set. I can say that I have listed and sold many records on this site, and have had terrible luck with classical lps. I have listed some NM condition Mercury Living Presence Stereo and Mono, and similar ...
This Sistrum stuff works
Well I wasn't wowed by the audio racks, but the other pix on that site were pretty awesome!
Help Please: What Cartridge?
Hi. As I have been mentioned here, I'll weigh in with a few comments. First, I don't recommend the Shelter 501 with the JMW arm. I love the cartridge, but I don't think it is the best match with that tonearm. I would consider something more along ...
Creative and cheap DIY turntable/tonearm tweaks
Bob, I believe the mod as I applied it is forgiving of the larger movements of record eccentricities. And it seems to have no effect on the slow tracking of the spiral groove as it traverses the record. I have no "wildly" eccentric records in my c...
VPI redesigning experiment
I think you are on the right track. Teres has also done alot with different wood bases. They have tried maple and also about a dozen different exotic hardwoods. So far, their experiments have shown Cocobolo to be best in their particular turntable...
Linn speakers
I'm guessing at the weight, but I'd say maybe about 125 pounds each. They are only about 3 feet tall, and about 18 inches square footprint, so they are not really that big. The efficiency level was about 89db, so I think a 175 watt unit would be f...
Linn speakers
Hessong, yep, that is the same critter. It had(in each cabinet) 2 B139 modified woofers in Isobarik configuration, and 2 B110 modified midrange drivers, with 1 in front and 1 on top, and 2 Scanspeak dome tweets, with 1 in front and one on top. The...
Where can I hear Teres
You have to either find an owner, or go to Colorado, or maybe you can get Chris to send you one for trial. They are not in any dealers, and are factory direct only. This is how they keep the price down.
Linn speakers
Yes. There is no provision to access the other portions of the crossover. There is only the XLR jack in the rear of the DMS. On the PMS, there is no passive crossover, and there are 3XLR plugs, and you must tri-amp with those.
