Used Morch DP-6 or modified Origin Live Silver?
David, I haven't tried that on the Encounter, but truthfully there is so little difference that I don't think it is needed. My mod and the bearing housing on the Encounter are doing about the same thing. Maybe the HiFi mod might be a tad more stab...
Just a kind word of thanks
I also enjoy Alex's(Zaikesman) posts, and correspond with him from time-to-time via email too. He's a great guy with alot of good experience.Steve, thanks for your nice comments about me too.
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Colitas, yes, I drilled the bases of the lead weights to fit the cap-nuts on the bearing axle. You have to use a 1/4" drill to do the depth of the rounded part of the cap nut, and 5/16" to fit over the flats of the nut. It is really 23/32", but if...
What phono setting to use for Plinius 8200
Most high-output MC cartridges do not have as high an output voltage as most MM cartridges do. This is why it seems to need to be turned up higher on the volume. It is also probably too high output to be using the MC setting on the phono section. ...
Audiophile Vs. Techfile
Slappy, I also have a bit of "tech-phile" in me. Nothing wrong with that at all.
AV Racks. What difference does it make?
Slappy, sorry if I offended you, but I felt that the main body of your thread was just as offensive. Whether you realize it or not, the majority of your thread body was directed at ridiculing the use of audio racks as a viable product that can hel...
Used Morch DP-6 or modified Origin Live Silver?
Well, I just did the first part of the listening testing.Drum roll....................First, the Encounter looks really good, and I like the looks alot.Second, the Encounter has new wiring and Eichmann Bullet Plugs on it, so that is a big plus.Thi...
Morsiani TT/Tonearm
There are some good concepts in his stuff, primarily the anti-skating mechanism. Not really new, but good thought went into it.The high mass turntable concept is a good one, and is used by many high end makers. I'd suspect that they would sound good.
AV Racks. What difference does it make?
The vibrations do affect the quality of the sound you hear. How your gear and the stand it's on handle these vibrations will affect how your ultimate sound comes out. You may not realize or even hear this in your system, but I assure you that some...
which audio rack?
Well Slappy, either there are hundreds of audiophiles on this website that are stupid and wasted thousands of dollars on performace audio racks for no reason, or you're missing something.Instead of ridiculing the rest of us, how about doing some r...
SACD...Confused about it....
SACD is not 24/196. You can play 24/196 on a CD player, but it will only output 16/44.1, unless it has 24/196 DAC chips in it.SACD is a totally different format, using a bitstream system, and will not play on a CD player, unless the player is mult...
Using a receiver as a phono stage
Plug your phono cables into the phono inputs of the NAD and use the NAD tape outputs to plug into an AUX input on the Jolida. This bypasses the majority of the internal circuitry of the NAD, and allows the purest signal to be transmitted to the Jo...
which audio rack?
Sistrum is also my recommendation.

Preamp Deal of the Century
Actually my comments were meant to convey that I am interested in hearing more about the Zazen phono preamp that Bwhite mentioned. Getting my motor running. They had nothing to do with thoughts of hum or vibration.
