Cables For Simaudio gear jwpstayman327 posts02-11-2021 1:22pm"...It is actually impossible for speaker cables to cause an amplifier to go into oscillation, no matter what the brand..."Naim does NOT want owners of their power amps to use high-capacitance speaker cables b...
What's your investment threshold? Allocating 10-15% of your budget for cables is reasonable and, IMHO, the value sweet-spot.
Bookshelf speakers for small room For small rooms and near-field listening conditions, the Kef LS50 is an easy recommend. The coincident/coaxial driver design provides a single point source of sound and excels in close-listening situations. I also listen at low levels (SPL) and ...
Who else is using old cables/interconnects, and is happy? Used StraightWire Maestro ICs and Kimber 8TC speaker cables for 25 years, but decided several years ago to give Cardas ICs and SCs a try. Liked the Litz/solid-core construction and the fact that they're made in the U.S. First time I've ever had th...
Two subwoofers for two channel music listening skypunk292 posts01-31-2021 12:10pm"....Then why is REL recommend using speaker out?"REL has long maintained that Speaker Level connections to their subs provides better (and easier) integration because the same signal feeding the main speakers i...
Two subwoofers for two channel music listening audioguy85541 posts01-30-2021 7:43pm"Why? I'd sell the speakers and buy one that does bass. Why ruin a speaker by adding bloated bass from subs. They are relegated to the home theater in this castle!"With small stand-mount speakers and sub(s), y...
Mickey Mouse Ears tjkurita34 posts01-27-2021 6:18pm"...I had an ikea poang chair that definitely extended behind my head. I know a lot of other audiophiles use one. Mine was in leather so it was particularly reflective. The sound was completely different in a way...
LS50 and Classical ei001h166 posts01-24-2021 7:56pm"LS50 won't sound good with classical no matter what you do...."I'm sure there are many happy owners that would disagree with you.
LS50 and Classical Adding a small sub (Rel T/5i) to augment the low end on LS50s provided a major improvement in my listening pleasure. The increased soundstage (depth, in particular) was significant and, with added body to music, the little Kefs no longer sounded...
Not Thrilled with Vandersteen 2CE Sigs - where is the first place to work on? Had a pair of 2CEs that worked well in a medium-sized room but not so good in a small room. As others have said, they need room to breathe. The listening position also needs to be 9-10 feet away (min.) for a proper blend of the drivers.
Kimber 4tc good enough? One option is to run 8TC for the bass and 4TC for the midrange/tweeter. Bass drivers (woofers) are current-hungry and the larger gauge 8TC works better.
FM Tuner for audiophiles-is it a bad idea today? I'm fortunate to get good reception of KUSC (91.5 FM) classical music 24/7 with no commercials on a Magnum Dynalab FT-101A tuner. Rivals the sound quality of CD playback.
Filling speaker cavities with cat litter I have Skylan speaker stands and cat litter was the recommended fill material. I chose playground sand, however, for more mass loading.
Experiment question about sound treatment project "To avoid the trouble of making the panels and finding out they don't help, could I simply hang pieces of the inner absorbent material to test out possible pact?"Sounds like a good plan. I did the same thing except I didn't have any panels so I us...
Audiophile AC Outlets I took the inexpensive route and went with a Leviton 5262-W duplex outlet, which is a copy of the more expensive Hubbell 5262-W outlet. FWIW, the Shunyata SR-Z1 is a Hubbell outlet that's been cryoed. No change in sound with the upgraded outlet, ... |
