Can anyone recommend an FM Receiver that would play into a relatively high end system?
@ cdc77,You might want to make sure that you have acceptable reception in your area for the FM stations of interest. Would suggest using the radio in your car to make that determination. As for FM tuners, Magnum Dynalab FT-101A has satisfied my ne...
Power Conditioners
The need for power conditioning depends on a lot of factors. The only way to determine that for your particular case is to try one (or more). As for the two units you listed, the AQ Powerquest 3 offers series-mode surge suppression while Austere VI...
Subwoofers down-firing or side-firing? Why?
"....Downfiring subs allow the bass wave to move in several directions in the room at once. The problem you have with bass in a room is standing waves which can cause cancellation at some places in the room and re-enforcement in other places. By h...
Tweaks you got rid of because they were not effective (enough)?
I have tried a number of tweaks over the years but few have remained in my system. They might sound good one day and sound worse the next. The ones that have survived are based on sound Engineering concepts like resonance and vibration control.Als...

I find it strange that Audio Envy's website does not indicate the wire gauge on their speaker cables. Does anyone know the answer?
Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
I also have a small (11' x 12') room and have found the Kef LS50, with its coincident/coaxial driver design, to be ideal in a near-field listening space. Stereophile gave it a Class A rating for good reason.
Detecting differences among cables
I have found audible differences in interconnects and speaker cables that can be attributed to differences in design (twisted pair, quad, coaxial, etc.) and material (Teflon, OFC, OCC, etc.).When it comes to power cables, however, it becomes a muc...
Beware Audiocadabra Cables: High Return Shipping and Won't Get Full Refund!

Has anyone ever tried cables made with OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) Copper?
I had high expectations when I tried a pair of OCC copper interconnects. They were very transparent and hyper-detailed but lacked body. There's obviously more to cables than just conductor material.
Beware Audiocadabra Cables: High Return Shipping and Won't Get Full Refund!
I’ve run into situations where a product was shipped from a U.S. address but returns have to be sent to a foreign country which can be quite expensive. I think it’s designed to discourage returns. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on.
Lemons are an actual thing in high-end audio
@jacksky - An interesting story. Thanks for sharing.
