Considering getting a CD player (again). Used? New? Criteria?
For those with limited funds, the Marantz CD6006 ($499) is an easy recommend. A very musical player with good build quality and a 3-year warranty.https://www.whathifi.com/us/marantz/cd6006/review
Adding a sub woofer?
After moving some years ago, my listening space became smaller and the Vandersteen 2CEs I had were no longer a good fit. Replaced them with Kef LS50s and enjoyed the change but missed the low-end of the Vandies. Finally bit the bullet and got a Re...
Reviewing the fabulous Silversmith Fidelium Speaker Cables
Does anyone know the equivalent conductor size (AWG) of the Silversmith Fidelium speaker cables? There is no info on Silversmith's website.
Question/Advice About Isolation Feet for Speakers
Speaker cones should move, speaker enclosures should NOT.
Raise my subwoofers off the ground approximately 12”?
"I’m looking for some sort of subwoofer stand to raise my subwoofers off the ground about 12”.."You might want to check with the sub manufacturer to determine if there is any down side. Raising the sub off the floor, for example, might result in r...
Do you use a Subwoofer when listening to stereo?
"Does excluding sub from stereo make sense?"Only if your main speakers are full range.
Power Conditioners

Purchase breaks well within 30 days
I'm surprised that the manufacturer hasn't stepped up and offered you a new replacement since the repair time of your unit is excessively long. It would certainly be a nice gesture on their part.
Power Conditioners
spotconlon OP9 posts10-17-2020 8:08pm"This Furman Elite looks interesting. The 15pfi is priced more to my liking and looks comparable except for the 45A v 55A of the 20. Any thoughts on likelihood of experiencing that kind of spike in a music-on...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
kijanki3,951 posts10-17-2020 5:17pm"Please answer my question - do tube amps sound bad? They have additional fraction of an ohm output impedance in comparison to SS. Why can't you understand that amplifiers with few ohms of output impedance ca...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
@oldhvymec, I believe the series component in Transparent network cables is an air-core inductor, NOT a resistor. Thus, minimal effect at low frequencies where the woofer comes into play.
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
kijanki3,948 posts10-17-2020 4:22pm"100Hz is too strong, in most cases, and small resistance in series helps to reduce it, since there is also impedance dip at this frequency. Nobody talks about kiloohms - that’s not a valid argument. All I’m say...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
kijanki3,946 posts10-17-2020 3:47pmDynamic speakers, in general, have their lowest impedance at low frequencies and small gauge wire will result in reduced bass."Not necessarily. Many speakers have impedance dip around 100Hz - bass reflex hump. ...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
@sjeesjie,You can use 24AWG speaker wire but I would advise against it. Dynamic speakers, in general, have their lowest impedance at low frequencies and small gauge wire will result in reduced bass. The solution is to use larger gauge wire. 14AW...
