Sound quality of Roon
Thanks for the comments. The replies are interesting but still kind of confusing. I see that the Innuos Zen Mini Mk3 can work as a Roon core computer and also has a DAC built in, so maybe that is a pretty reasonably priced option to get started. F...
Spendor SP100R2 still a relevant speaker?
I have heard SP100’s many times, a good friend owned a set for many years, it is a terrific speaker on many kinds of music. Kind of doesn’t do anything wrong, gets alot right, and always sound approachable and makes nasty recordings sound decent. ...
Where do you want your system to go when you go?
I would say probably to one of my kids.  They are all music fans, though they are busy and probably don't listen too much, but maybe in the future!
What is an AV grade switching power supply?
Yes I think an AV grade power supply is one that has better noise filtering on board. Like the IFI stuff as was mentioned.  Switch mode power supplies are notoriously noisy, so for AV use, I would think they put in various filters to quiet the noi...
Brass versus copper binding posts
I think copper is the most conductive but it can rust or oxidize over time.  I think that is why they do bronze or rhodium or light gold plate, to make sure there isn't rust over time.
Mood lighting for listening
Mood lighting might be nice but I usually turn down the lights very low, or even off, when doing real listening if you know what I mean.
Optimal lengths for USB and Ethernet cabling for digital audio
Thanks jjss49, as always your posts are very useful, I learned quite  a bit from reading those.
After the thrill is gone
I haven't changed my speakers for many years, and they are very good not hardly super duper level gear like the stuff out there these days.  Just Epos M22 floor standers with a Naim Nait XS2.  But the music is wonderful, totally enjoyable.  The th...
What are the top 3 USB cables being used today in reference systems?
I am considering upgrading my digital USB cable. Reading this thread has been informative but also seems like there are so many choices out there, and what cables do what is sort of unclear to me. Has anyone tried this one? This seller seems to a...
New Magnaplanar 1.7 delaminating and buzzing.
It was my oversight to think the pair was purchased used. I saw references to the seller picking them up and so on so I kind of jumped to the conclusion. Anyhow, hope it all gets fixed by Magnepan and the dealer.  Several friends of mine have had ...
Optimal lengths for USB and Ethernet cabling for digital audio
No one knows?  I must say I am pretty surprised at that!

I think CJ does this to keep things simple and to keep the signal as pure as possible in the integrated or control amps. Separates are separates, and I guess they feel folks who play in that more expensive territory want each stage of amplificatio...
The review wehave been promising is up
jjs49 I completely agree with you. Retailers and manufacturers should not use this forum to sell their wares. It is OK to raise awareness and be helpful in sharing information or knowledge, but we can all see when lines are crossed into territory ...
Should Audiogon forum dealers be held to a different standard?
Not sure what is a higher standard, but to me this is a discussion forum, so it shouldn't be used for industry people just to sell their wares.  They can and should contribute to the discussions, share info and knowledge, debate, like any other p...
New Magnaplanar 1.7 delaminating and buzzing.
It seems to me that this broken delaminating pair of 1.7s were bought used, and this reminds me that sometimes when this stuff happens buying used gear can be pretty risky and be a real headache.  Magnepan will hopefully honor the warranty if it s...
