Best rock bass player
Also: Rick Danko (The Band). Fine work on the first two records.
How does one "Get lost in the music"?
It's far more about the right music than the right system or room. I used to get lost listening to my dad's portable stereo. Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper's often did the trick.
Best rock bass player
Mental, I had Entwistle on my list of eight.FWIW the more recent players don't do it for me with the exception of Les Claypool. But the modern guitarists (Satriani, Van Halen, etc.) don't do it for me either.Jack Casady was top of my list. I guess...

T, I sometimes feel that old. But apparently we're about the same age. I guessed wrong!

Tgrisham--okay, got it. Been there and done that (I'm probably 2-to-3 times your age). But those mattresses and couches will absorb sound and thereby change it, that's all I'm saying.
Were any of you taping concerts circa 1972-88?
I had (still have) a Tandberg reel machine and two Beyer M500 (ribbon) microphones. I have a recording of (classical guitarist) Sharon Isbin playing in Dallas ca. '77. I have a box of tapes of Beto y los Fairlanes, a local Austin band, from around...

Furniture, etc. has a huge effect on the sound, so how can you know what it sounds like until you all the reflecting/absorbing components in place?
Badfinger, perfect end for Breaking Bad
I thought it was a pretty good choice. I thought the earlier use of Crystal Blue Persuasion was more right-on-the-button.
Last time you felt that "tingling" sensation?
Excellent clip of Nancy Wilson--I've not really paid attention to her but now I will. When this was performed ('64)my head was into the Beach Boys and the forefront of the British invasion--I might not have appreciated something like this at the t...
Coltrane
I like the Miles tracks with both Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley. I thought they were an interesting mix of styles.
Billy Cobham Spectrum 40 concert
One of my all-time favorite drummers. I saw him twice with the first Mahavishnu Orch. and once with Bob Weir.I love the first part of Miles Davis' "Right Off" (side one of "Jack Johnson"). What he and McLaughlin do in the first few minutes is pure...
The Worst Performance Ever - Really
Not only is it lame but it's a total ripoff of Screaming Jay Hawkins (remember "I Put a Spell on You?") who used to use a coffin prop on stage. Lord Suck even stole the "Screaming" name. What a loser--he's certainly no Arthur Brown, who could sing...
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
Donjr, I don't know about your system or room, but I added a sub a couple of years ago (a REL, FWIW) and it seemed to complete the whole deal. I've never regretted it.
IMO the two best tracks to demo or test any system
Sutpen--do you have a stereo version of Good Vibrations? If so, which release is it form?
Linda Ronstadt can't sing anymore.
This weekend I was listening to some tracks from Paul Simon's "Graceland." One track had a duet with a female vocalist that was very nice. I was surprised to find it was Linda R.--very pretty but didn't have her characteristic sound IMO.She does a...
