Why Don't More People Love Audio? "I can...sit through movies, playes, concerts, etc. for hours." Well, a listening session is a concert in your home. Isn't that the whole point of exceptional sound?
Need recommendations.. Solo acoustic guitar CDs Speaking of the Al, Paco and John trio--"Passion, Grace and Fire" sounds fantastic though the music can be challenging to the listener. A bit modern.
Need recommendations.. Solo acoustic guitar CDs Virtuoso is unbelievable playing but the sound on the acoustic tracks is lacking. An ES-175 was not designed for its acoustic sound. Again, the playing is without equal.
Need recommendations.. Solo acoustic guitar CDs The Pink Guitar--music of Mancini, each great arrangement by a different guitarist. It's a Grammy winner, and well-deserved.
Who do you credit for your love of mucic? Brian Wilson. His compositions and arrangements got me listening more and more deeply than I would have imagined possible before.

Your last concert was to see who and when? Last night (3/7/15), Oz Noy Trio at Saxon Pub, Austin. Roscoe Beck on bass and Chris Layton, drums. Oz is my favorite "young" electric guitarist on the scene.

Who is your overall favorite guitarist? Plectrum--John McLaughlin. Fingerstyle--Paco de Lucia.
Why do some cd's have no bass It's likely the fault of the person who mixed the multi-track recording down to two-track stereo. The liner notes should tell you who is to blame.Mixing is an art and apparently there are successful professionals that don't "get it."
Another hearing loss thread Czarivey, Willie had trouble breathing at high altitude a couple of years back and had a collapsed lung 20 years ago. I admire his fortitude and tenacity but I don't think he's a poster child for smokers. Not everyone has his strong constitution.A...
Another hearing loss thread Financial priorities change with age. But I'm 62 and still willing to upgrade, although most would regard my system as mid-fi. My upper frequency hearing has been diminished (according to testing) since I was in my 40's but I can still distinguish...
Best rock bass player Does Wasserman play electric? I know he's a fine upright player. How about Jim Fielder (Blood, Sweat and Tears, in their heyday, also appears on Freak Out and Buffalo Springfield Again)...
What tracks really make your system shine? The Beatles: A Hard Day's Night (the much-maligned stereo re-master) The impact of the first chord of AHDN, the claves and nylon string guitar on And I Love Her, and the occasional Rickenbacker 12-string guitar throughout the album Abbey Road re-m...
Best internet radio stations. ?? How is streamed sound vs. good broadcast? Does it have the same sense of air and spaciousness (I'm thinking in terms of acoustic/classical music)? |
