Daryls House - some great takes on familar songs
Notec, have you actually watched or listened to the show? The point of my previous post is that even a non-believer might like it.
Daryls House - some great takes on familar songs
I never expected to like this show because, well, Hall & Oates were not my cup of tea back in that time. But Daryl has really impressed me with his voice and overall musicianship. My favorites are the Joe Walsh episode and the one with Billy G...
Modern day female jazz recommendations
One thing different about Kat Edmondsonis that she sometimes takes an old standard and does it with a modern approach, then will take a "more recent" (post-50's) pop tune and do it like an old standard. It works for me, YMMV.

"What a drag it is getting old..."
the most underrated 33 1/3 in history?
I've been listening to Klaatu "3:47" and I'm not so impressed. The talent is certainly there, but the sound is SO derivative and, frankly, the compositions are not in the league of the band they sound like so much. I'll take the Rutles over Klaatu...
Great Organists in Rock
Not so many years back Frosty was a fixture on the Austin scene. Not sure of his present status.
Rolling Stones Tour 2015
Okay, I think that was the "Aftermath" tour. '66 sounds right (I figured it was '66 or '67). I think I paid $5.50 for my ticket in Houston. Several times then-minimum wage, but a pittance compared to today's prices.
FM broadcast vs. streaming
Thanks for the diverse and interesting answers so far. I'm thinking specifically of a given FM station over-the-air vs. the streaming broadcast available on their website. I do hear the "air" present in the over-the-air broadcast but appreciate ha...
Rolling Stones Tour 2015
Geoffkait, I forgot about the Swinging Blue Jeans. First time I saw the Stones the openers were the Standells (Dirty Water) and the McCoys (Hang on Sloopy). I liked the former, didn't care for the latter.
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Miro Quartet, tonight (4/3/15)--Schubert #15. Would have stayed for the sextet (Schoenberg, Transfigured Night) but the AC was blasting too cold for me to stick around. Very nice first half, though.
Rolling Stones Tour 2015
I've seen the Stones with each of their 3 rhythm guitarists and the sound has never been good--twice indoors, once outdoors. IMO the big venue shows are more trouble than the expense or bother is worth.
What music do you want to play really loud?
The first two Mahavishnu Orchestra albums--The Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire. This was a loud band and so it's appropriate. Ditto Live Cream.

I thought Sticky Fingers was pretty much it for them. I had Exile and, a few tracks aside, thought it was mediocre. The rest of the world disagrees, I know.

Why Don't More People Love Audio?
"I can...sit through movies, playes, concerts, etc. for hours." Well, a listening session is a concert in your home. Isn't that the whole point of exceptional sound?
