Stax ED-1 Equalizer. Comments? FWIW, I think anyone expecting the best out of their Stax system would be better served by moving up the Stax line than adding the ED-1 to the mix. I can say this with confidence, as I have owned the ED-1 and used it with my Lambda Pro and SRM-1, ...
Well, I decided to get an Audio Illusion M 3A Years ago, I bought an Audible Illusions 2D to pair with my Classe DR-15 amplifier. I sold it to buy a DR-6 preamp, but I missed the sound of the tubed AI. Recently, I bought an Audible Illusions Modulus L-1. I’m not a Stereophile or Absolute Soun...
JBL L110 Speaker Reconing Whether you send them out or do it yourself is your call. If you decide to do it yourself, check out "Simply Speakers" on the internet. That’s probably what a repair shop will do. They also sell replacement raw speakers. I re-coned my 10" speakers...
HeadAmp Blue Hawaii HP amp I have heard the Blue Hawaii amps at stereo shows and they are impressive. I have been watching Audiogon and ebay for years and almost NEVER see them for sale. They are expensive and the wait for them to be built can be several months.
~$6K mini-monitor recommendations? Take a look at some of he Sonus Faber stand-mounted speakers. These are not usually abused so buying used makes sense. You can find Electa Amators (series I, 2, and even 3) used, for around your stated price range. High WAF is a bonus!
Sales or clearances happening now Hifiman is having an "Open Box" sale.
RIP Bill Reiflin That's very sad. I thought he did a great job as drummer for R.E.M. after Bill Berry left. We saw them live a few times, and I'll never forget their appearance on "Austin City Limits". Big shock...and only 59.
Cassettes still rock! A few days ago I recommended Willy to another member that was looking for a part for his Nakamichi deck. Willy went through all four of my decks, and my RX-505 (the only one left) still works like new. When we lived in the Bay Area, it was comfort...
Taralabs cables I have a short in my "Space and Time w/TFA Return" speaker cables. I realize they are vintage but the tech at Tara Labs refuses to look at them.I sent a vintage power cord to Kimber Kable for repair and they sent me a new cord. Now that's customer...
Help with tape deck Get in touch with Willy Hermann. You can find him online. If anyone will have it, Willy will.
What cassettes do peaple like these days .... As far as where to buy cassettes, you can't do better than a thrift store. Not every thrift store stocks them, but if they do they will be cheap. Also, many used record stores stock them, but you'll pay more on average. I also find cassettes to ha...
Phoenix area stores I see that this thread goes back to 2006, and how things have changed in Phoenix! I have been here a couple of years and have found this area to be a hi-fi wasteland. The only stores I have found worth visiting are AZ Hi-Fi (Central and Camelback ...
Pricing a Goldmund Studietto? The Audiogon Bluebook shows $1700 for the Studietto, $2000 if a Mark 2. It doesn't specify the arm. Mine had the Goldmund T-5, and I sold it thirty years ago for $1200. Beautiful turntable! The looks alone will probably sell it. |
