Can an older Sony or Pioneer CD changer sound better with a budget DAC?
I have a vintage Denon CD player that was a TOTL player in it's day. It doesn't keep up with my other CD players in terms of resolution. I pulled out a Benchmark DAC1 that I purchased used years ago ($550). I'm surprised to hear how much it improv...
headphones to use with a Chord Mojo
I can’t speak directly to the  Chord Mojo because I haven’t owned one but i’ll add something about headphones. I have always been a Stax guy, Lambdas first then the 009s. Recently, I wanted to try a closed back phone so I bought a pair of Audeze L...
Who's bought a piece of gear only
Anything I purchase needs to satisfy my own criteria, beyond just utility...one of them is appearance. If the appearance doesn’t appeal to me, I don’t buy it. I’ll admit that I bought my Consonance Droplet 5.0 CD player just because it looked so c...

Oppo BDP-105D just for CDs?
n80,As gelle said, you really have no downside. Take the 105D if it's still available. I doubt if you will be disappointed, but if you are you won't have any trouble selling it.
Oppo BDP-105D just for CDs?
Yes, right now I'm using it as a transport only with the Audeze LCD-XC headphones. Listening to SACDs, I plug it into the STAX SRM-T1S and use the DAC in the 105D.
Oppo BDP-105D just for CDs?
I own many CD, SACD and BluRay players. I use my Oppo 105D for CD/SACD listening only. It’s my least expensive player but I am very thankful that I listened to the rave reviews and bought the Oppo. You won’t be disappointed if you buy it. I play i...
Denon DRM-30HX cassette deck.
See if there is someone in your area that does powder coating. In short, they charge the metal and it attracts the color to the metal. The finished product will look much better than a spray can, but will cost more.
Audiophile Albums....Yes indeed
condosound,Thanks for revealing your own political leanings. We don't care! This ISN'T a political forum, it's about stereo equipment and music. Let's keep it that way.
Give Satanic Majesties A Chance
I liked "TSMR", but it’s true that not every album is a winner. I’d like to hear Mick and Keith's opinions of Mick's solo effort, "Primitive Cool." Ouch!
Give Satanic Majesties A Chance
Sorry to disagree, but I like "Their Satanic Majesties Request." It may not be in my top five Stones album favorites, but I still like it. I don’t care if Mick did call it rubbish. I did some research and found that he did cash the check. I liked ...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Natalie Merchant-"Leave Your Sleep" It's a CD, sorry!
Stax ED-1 Equalizer. Comments?
frogman,Thanks for chiming in. Just a few comments. Like Al, I sold my ED-1 for $600 several years ago. As a longtime headphone guy, I'll reiterate my comment from 4-11 that moving up the Stax line is an eye opener. I loved my Lambda Pro headphone...
RIP Art Dudley
The other day, I received the latest edition of Stereophile. I looked to see which reviewers are still left there reviewing equipment. My next stop was to turn to page 37 and read "Listening," Art Dudley's column. The next day, I read that he had ...
Network Transport vs. CD Transport
"...I dumped everything USB, got rid of the music server that was in my audio room, and went with Room running on a Mac mini hooked up using ethernet to a ps audio DS sr dac."I read stories, like the ones above, and it reminds me why I am content ...
