Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
I teach research methods and find the question of whether a random sample's sampling error could have accounted for the variation noted to be trivial, especially as anything will be statistically significant if the sample size is large. Maybe I mi...
Playing dual layer SACD/CD disc on Sony DVP9000 ES
I tried the procedure that Sfstereo described and it did not work for me, although, I did not have a "DVD - Dual layer" disc. (Not even sure what that is.) Also, I was surprised that a hybrid SACD disc was not required for the callibration.Anyway,...
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
I had a guest staying with me for a few days, so I put him the sweet spot and played some tunes, I loved his reaction, he just kept repeating, in a tone of amazement: "You don't need drugs, you don't need drugs..."
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
According to the Positive Feedback review the effects were so dramatic that it should be easy to carry out a succesful double blind test. Given how improbable this device is, I think the Clarks and Positive Feedback have an obligation to carry out...
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
Has anyone done a true blind test - where someone else removes or inserts the CLC in your house? If you can reliably determine whether the CLC is anywhere in the house this would provide remarkable evidence for some totally unknown natural phenome...
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
I'm copying below excerpts from a positive feedback review in a blind test *without* the CLC, from www.positive-feedback.com/Issue23/clock_nespa.htm: Well, in a word, everything sounded bad. I was surprised at how awful things sounded.... ....Sadl...
Will computer to DAC replace transports and cdp's?
configured as RAID 5, so its pretty safe. If I blow up two drives at once, guess I'm reripping everything, but that prospect seems pretty minimalI think it's just a question of time before computer storage makes CD/transport systems obsolete, but ...
Rai anyone
There are 2 volumes of "Rai Rebels" that's also very good, a mix of different artists.
comparing monitors
I'd suggest checking out the sonus faber signums, it was the entry level in their classic line, very good bass, excellent imaging but they do need some space, probably a couple feet out from side and front walls. They are rated at 4ohm, 87db, the ...
Playing dual layer SACD/CD disc on Sony DVP9000 ES
I have the same problem, I've read that it is a hardware problem, need a new laser to fix it. This appears to be a common problem with these units.
Rookie here, SACD's sound "muffled". Normal?
If you have not already done this you might try breaking in the SACD player longer, on some players the CD and SACD each need a separate breakin period.
Help finding Hi End in Denver
I'd also recommend Jim at SoundsRealAudio.com, check his website for his product line and also call to see what he has in stock. He sells and demos systems from his home and I've found him to be very helpful and a nice guy. I think he matches comp...
What would be upgrade from my setup for PC sound
Steve at www.empiricalaudio.com also does an upgrade of the transit, he has several different versions which I heard at RMAF, and was very impressed. I am planning to demo his off-amp and modified P3A Dac in my system.
Audio Research PH3 SE - Shelter 501 II compatibili
I tried the PH3 with the Shelter 501 II, and felt that it did not have enough gain. Reading the specs it seemed like it might just marginally have enough gain, but it wasn't quite there in my system. I had a big improvement when I sold my PH3/LS8 ...
The Future: Multimedia PC "Separates"?
It looks like there are several interesting, new "music servers" with an integrated CD reader/computer/disk storage (Zero One, Mcintosh, Cambridge) but I have the same concern - there are a lot of parts that can fail in these systems. Computers ar...
