Peter Wolf - give him another listen
I have to agree that Wolf's solo albums are worth checking out.
Who am I supporting?
Many contemporary artists self release albums or have websites where they sell their albums.  Purchasing from these sites is the only way to be sure the artist will profit from your purchase
Bob Dylan sells his complete songwriting catalog!
Managing Zappa’s musical legacy caused a lot of bad feelings between his kids. Bob is being smart by avoiding that sort of problem.Universal will probably mishandle the music trying to squeeze every penny they can out of it, but what else is new?
The Future of Speakers?
Sounds interesting.  Thanks for posting.  I may just wait for the chip implant that will bypass my ears and send my music directly to my brain.Seriously, technology is developing so fast that there's no telling what the future will look like.
Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
All beautiful music. My kind of jazz. Ingrid Jensen is in the group Artemis which jjss49 recommended earlier. It’s a really good album (to my ear). I also recommend it. ARTEMIS - The Sidewinder - YouTube
Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
It’s my turn to apologize for questioning your humility and integrity, frogman. Your post was not what I expected to read this morning. I should be more careful about what I assume about others from their posts. Now, back to jazz and the enjoyment ...
Are all of these NOS tube inventories real? How have we not consumed them already?
Note that new tubes, or "currently manufactured tubes" for those who are seemingly confused about what NOS actually means NOS and NIB are descriptions that only apply to OLD STOCK tubes. These terms shouldn’t be used with current production tubes...
Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
An important part of being a good listener is having a little humility about it all. We may not like it, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it is no good. Hey frogman, Take your own advice and learn a little humility. I did not dismiss all contempo...
Are all of these NOS tube inventories real? How have we not consumed them already?
Tubes in the 40s, 50s and 60s were as common as transistors and all the chips of all varieties are now. Radios, TVs and just about any kind of electronic device were full of them. Radio and TV stations and many other large scale businesses used to...
Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
It is hard to put jazz into neat categories. The jazz I like has melody or rhythm or something that I can recognize, maybe described as a song. The musicians can depart from the melody or rhythm and become discordant or whatever, but remain connec...
Audiophile demographics?
Most women are not interested in audiophile gear because they are not interested, period.  They are not mistreated or excluded by men.  They are not beaten by their husbands for touching the stereo. If women were interested in audio but didn't like...
Analog vs digital?
No, technology is not going backwards. Digital sound is steadily improving and many prefer it to analog. If you enjoy your turntable more, that’s great. Enjoy! You have been in audio long enough to know that what you are doing here is trying to star...
Looking for a basic streamer without a DAC, preamp, storage and all that
The Node 2i has digital outs so it's easy to bypass its DAC.  It's a good streamer and provides access to all kinds of services.  The BluOs app is a really good basic one.  Works flawlessly.  I don't think there's much out there for less than $500.
Looking for a basic streamer without a DAC, preamp, storage and all that
There are many threads on streamers, streaming, etc.  Here's one to get you started:https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/streamer-with-no-dac?highlight=Streamer
Diminishing returns?
If it's a financial struggle and you're happy with your current player, don't upgrade unless you can listen to the new player in your system and feel it's worth the money.Sound quality improvements are hard to predict and the law of diminishing re...
