Suggestions, please... Fab4fan, I wondered if you'd call me on that... you can call me old if you like, as in "Good old Tobias." ;o) ( I'll be a senior citizen soon enough. Like Paul Simon says, God is old, we're not. )Rushton, that's a great list. I myself was going to...
Suggestions, please... Marakanetz, is Baroque classical ? Some says yes, some says no, some says I'm off topic, some says I ain't ;o) Hope it helps old Fab4fan...
Accustic Arts, Ensemble, KAS Any recommendations? OK, if anything goes, then the Masterflux is the only one I know. In a few words, dimension, quickness, definition and purity. My notes from the first listening sesion: diminished digital artifacts. Female voice rounder and more three-dimensional....
Suggestions, please... You could ease into baroque with concertos by Handel, Vivaldi, Bach and Albinoni. Analekta has a good disc of Vivaldi string concertos with Angèle Dubeau and her Stradivarius. They also have a killer Handel recording with Karina Gauvin, listen to ...
NAD C541i vs Music Hall CD25 I have owned a MH CD-25 ( the Shanling CD-S100 form of it ) and I've listened to the NAD 541i in my favourite store. I understand your hesitation, they both sound good. I was surprised by the 541i, it was the first NAD player I thought was smooth ...
What steps forward were actually steps backward? Steps backward in disguise, based on marketing and lies:Solid state amplificationAcoustic suspension speakersDigitalIn 1970 I went from a kit-built Dyna SCA-35 to a transistor integrated whose name I've repressed. Now I'm back with tube amps, I re...
Isolating bookshelf speakers without stands? Points or, better, cones are the only things you can use under speakers without sacrificing some bass response, although Totem and perhaps others use steel balls. ( I've heard Totems so equipped and they didn't seem bass-shy, but who knows what di...
Upgrading my Linn set up HELP advice please Yes, I've heard that effect from Moon equipment before. You feel that you are in a room with invisible musicians. Reminds me of a passage in, I think, the Morte d'Arthur: Galahad or Percival, in the Grail castle, hears celestial music from an unkn...
How to clean the tweeter or woofers? It certainly happens that people think they must clean them when there's no need. Spare a thought for the audio bumpkin! A pal of mine thought he had to take a little nub of something off his B&W's tweeter and wrecked it. It was an old model a...
How to clean the tweeter or woofers? I use a soft artist's paintbrush or a Zwiffer cloth and if the dust doesn't come off with a very light pass I just leave it there. It's not affecting the sound, after all.
Upgrading my Linn set up HELP advice please Well, take Lugnut's advice and try to find a Supratek Syrah. That's the elsewhere I was thinking of.As for an integrated... if it were me looking, I'd want to hear an Audiomat (French), or for less money, a Cayin or HIT Audio (Chinese). These are ...
Upgrading my Linn set up HELP advice please P.S. you asked about an AA DAC, and again my advice is to get the very best you can squeeze out of your wallet. IMHO you need to do more research on DACs before you choose one. You may do better with a two-box upgrade, but OTOH you may not. (A tip...
Upgrading my Linn set up HELP advice please Joolz, it's great playing backup to Lugnut. He's right, you know. Look at what I said up above: one nice thing about Linn active systems is you don't have to use Linn amps. That goes for preamps too. You can have a wonderful Aktiv system eventuall...
Teres is Done Thanks so much for the pics. What a gorgeous thing. Very warm congratulations.
Upgrading my Linn set up HELP advice please Interesting reflection by Lugnut on digital source purchase at this time. I myself am wondering about low end digital, now that I'm looking for a player for a friend. I want to hear some cheap DVD players with CD outs. Good comments I've heard abo... |
