Tube Integrated for Zu Cable Druids?
There might be an amp in the Audio Space line from Gini Systems that suited your needs. They are very well-built, high value amps from Hong Kong. I have the AS-3i integrated in my bedroom and I like it a lot.http://www.gini.com/
Getting rid of harsh, shrill treble
The problem may be related to the AC supply. An isolation transformer for the CD player (eBay) would be a cheap way to find out. 125 to 500 VA would be a reasonable size. Topaz and Xentek are good names.
Cartridge for Graham 1.5
Benz rebuilt it like OEM? Do you remember the rebuild price?I would love to be able to compare a Koetsu rebuild with a Benz rebuild of a Koetsu, but haven't had the chance. I have no reason to doubt the rebuilder's skill, at least. As far as I can...
Cartridge for Graham 1.5
I have a Koetsu Rosewood Signature in my 1.5t. The arm has the 2.2 bearing upgrade. The combination sounds transparent, dynamic and very sweet. The Koetsu was quite cheap because it needed rebuilding. I had that done at Benz in Switzerland. The to...
Best RCA to mini adapter or RCA to mini cable?
I second the Zu Pivot. I have also used a Cardas mini-to-mini and I prefer the Pivot's harmonics. The Radio Shack cable (which I also have) doesn't bear comparison to either the Cardas or the Zu.
Review: Shanling SP-80 Tube amp
Thank you all for the kind words, and apologies for being slow to acknowledge some of them.Mike, to me the command sync cable looks like a standard stereo mini-to-mini. The jack size is the same as the one supplied with computer headphones. I'm gu...
Speaker reco for vintage 35w amp in small room?
Many people say Meadowlark Shearwater Hot Rods sound great with a good tube amp. Mine sure do. Your Pilot should have enough power and your room, just big enough.
What has been your most satisfying component?
My Linn LP12 Lingo. My once and future TT, through many upgrades. It has a Graham on it now with a Koetsu that's just breaking in. Gorgeous. And a hat tip to my Klyne SK-5A preamp.
Integrated or Separates on a budget
Blewis1041, about the NAD, it's my champagne tastes I'm afraid. I always try to stretch to the very best possible sound for the buck. I'm willing to do some hunting for it and put up with some inconvenience in the outcome. The amp you mention is st...
Integrated or Separates on a budget
Having to drive two sets of speakers from the same amp limits the possibilities somewhat. In this case you might actually want to go for entry-level separates, if only to choose a preamp with two sets of outputs so you could buy and drive a second...
Integrated or Separates on a budget
I have heard that getting separates is generally better all aroundWell......no.I would not say, today, that separates are generally better than an integrated. There are tradeoffs involved both ways. Expense is the biggest, as you mention. Size is ...
What wall outlet to purchase?
My Porter Port from Albert Porter was very fairly priced, I thought, and provided excellent sonic value over the older, non-cryo isolated ground unit it replaced. I haven't tried anything more expensive, though.
Sneaky Pete Is Gone - R.I.P.
Thanks for this. Rest in peace, Pete, and thanks for the music.
why don't tubed amps have headphone jacks?
My Audio Space AS-3i integrated has a headphone jack. A nice one, too, not just an afterthought, and that's one thing that tipped the the scales in its favour.
Power cable for tube output cdp
Forgot to mention some details. According to the manufacturer's site, the El Nino PC is OCC copper. It's a rather stiff cord. List price is $180, which is about 12% of my player's cost.
