Meitner DAC 6-Roll call
David nice to see you've made the move, I think you made the right choice with the source! I have a Meitner DCC2 ordered(the 2 channel DAC6, it also has a volume control and 2 analog inputs so it functions as a preamp as well) as well as the phili...
Any hi-end Aussie speakers or electronics?

Radiohead -Hail to the Theif
Sounds great, I enjoy there music... Its just not the sort of music I can listen to over and over again- but from time to time its like going to a place far far away- I will be looking forward to hearing it, thanks for the heads up!
Choking more SPL's out of Maggie 3.6's
I have 3.6's in a similar sized room, and I can't hear myself sing- thank god! The amp I am using is a BAT VK-500w/bat pak, it seems to drive the speakers with aplomb. I think the previous posters hit all the technical reasons for whats' happening...
Audio Aero Mark II--using balanced and unbalanced
Mejames- Another possibility is if the amp you are running into isn't truly balanced you will not get the same gain from the XLR side of things. This is interesting I wish I had some way of testing it.
Audio Aero Mark II--using balanced and unbalanced
Mejames- how is that possible? XLR is typically 6dB higher at lower volumes, and that difference becomes less as the volume is increased. I have not tried it with my capitole II(no reason too) but I am curiuos- I would test it right now but my amp...
"Best" cable elevators?
Crazy4blues- Before the MkII you must make an "upgrade" for a small fee, something like new feet or an acoustic coating. Then after those sales slow come out with the mkII which is completely revolutionary- that's what microsoft did- though they d...
"Parts upgrade" on crossovers -Any experiences?
The first thing I would do is try to get a hold of KEF and see if they would be kind enough to send you a crossover schemetic, you never know what ideas you may get. Next I would go to audioasylum.com and visit the "tweaks" section and ask this sa...
strobe light question
I would rather put my faith in a lava lamp :o)
Has anyone else noticed this about Mozart ....
Pragmatist is right, Mozart lived a very interesting albeit short life. His influences changed through the years, he traveled through a lot of Europe and his sound changed with the different region he was in- or I should say was influenced by what...
Equipment fetish
More on fetishes hereIf nothing else its good for a laugh. We here at the audio comunity have serious problems and should all seek psychological help, what we do is not normal.
Mail Boxes Etc. now to be called the UPS Store
Yea, but John try dropping off 300+lbs. of speakers at the post office and see how far you get ;) they are good for smaller items but when you need to ship heavy stuff you have to go else where.
floorstanders on carpet over concrete
I think you could try slabs under the speakers but that doesn't usually remedy too much, more of a tweek then a tuning device. I think your problem could be room related and bass traps are an option, helmholtz resonator's(aka room lens) could work...
Mail Boxes Etc. now to be called the UPS Store
That's kind of a shame, I dealt with Mail Boxes a few time and it may have been expensive they were GREAT, a real shame :( Maybe UPS will be able to keep it up- though I am skeptic.
Who has the oldest speakers?
Gosh mine are about 6 months old and I am told that is a long time for an audiophile to keep a pair of speakers ;)
