subwoofer Bass in Systems
I agree with you as I have used a sub on and off. Right now there's no sub in my system and I kinda miss it. There is a lot of information and nuance that you just can't get with speakers that only go down to 40Hz or so.
Still mystified by mega expensive power cords
Kiddman, enjoy your ignorance.TbgThomas Gray said "ignorance is bliss."Of course there's another famous quote from P.T. Barnum...
Best Options In A Balanced Preamp Under $1500.00?
The PS Audio PCA2 is another you could add to the list. There's one listed here now but the price is a good 40% too high IMO. I owned one for a while, nice smooth operation and neutral sound.
Static electricity....again
I always recommend having a dryer sheet handy when approaching the equipment rack. But it sounds like if the spray didn't work then maybe the sheets won't either. This is a particularly nasty winter.Pbn, how do we send private messages? Can't figu...
Why speaker lines come and go
The write-up on Soliloquy was interesting and illustrates the difficulties these guys face. I own a pair and agree with Jmcgrogan1's assessment, wonderful speakers for what I paid. There was no mention of Meadowlark Audio on the web site which kind...
Improving bass from a front ported speaker
Plugging the port usually reduces the bass output.
Does CDP Analog and digital work at the same time?
In my experience, yes. Don't know what cdp you're using but it worked with the 3 or 4 different models I've tried.

Bel Canto Pre3.
Thiel death do we part . . .
I owned the 1.6s for a while and actually bought them to get that extra detail I felt was missing. The Thiels supplied the missing detail but for me it became too much. Or as you are finding, poorly recorded music was difficult to listen to. Far t...
TOSLINK to SPDIF converter box
Look at the Monarchy Audio DIP.
Expensive cables/connector and solder
The correct practice is to establish a solid mechanical connection before applying solder. In this way the wire is in direct contact with the connector's metal and the solder is used to ensure the connection remains intact. Signal isn't affected i...
First Post Looking for Integrated Amplifier
Follow Swampwalkers advice plus this: if your preamp has a tape out, use that instead of the pre out. The tape out is not affected by the volume control and will pass the phono signal through in the cleanest manner.
USB DAC or CDP for $200?
Got my AudioAdvisor flyer in the mail yesterday and noticed the Dragonfly is on sale for $149.
Replace Amp or Preamp?
A few years ago I owned the Proceed Pre you ask about and was not impressed with it. Can't recall much about it other than being unimpressed. There are not a lot of preamps listed in your price range, and none of the SS pres in the I have no exper...
Proofreader wanted
On a tangent, there is a book out titled "Albions Seed" that documents the four major folkways brought over from the U.K. One of them, the Borderers, settled west of the colonies since they couldn't get along with the others and have gone on to ev...
