Schiit Saga+...What’s the point of the tube? I've never used the Saga, but the Schiit website says that you can use the passive mode or run it through the tube. I suspect you need to push a button or something to switch from passive to tube. Good Luck
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover The 15 stays between 5 and 6 ohms at all frequencies, the tweeter stays between 4.3 and 5 ohms. Any Audiogon member is Welcome to my home in Weldon Spring Mo (St. Louis area) for a listen.
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover @millercarbon I hear ya, I have been to at least 20 C.E.S as a buyer, not as a vendor. Even on my end, it was easy to see how cutthroat it could be from the vendor side. Years ago, Randy Patton who briefly owned Threshold, Sumo, Meitner, PS Audio ...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover Hi, @bruce19 I started modifying speakers when I was a store manager at CMC Stereo. I visited the audiophile shops in the St. Louis area regularly. We had a retail store called SpeakerCraft that custom built speakers. In 1980, I took a job as Gene...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover You'll find out if you nice symmetry when your finished. The folks at Madisound are nice folks, but through the years, I've learned to get it right, I had to do it myself. I didn't always get accurate advice. Hopefully, all will work out well fo...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover @bruce19 The pink cap is a film cap, most likely a mylar. If you are doing the work yourself, I would recommend replacing the parts with Polypropylene caps throughout. If they were mine, I'd do a complete crossover rebuild based on liste...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover 3.72, 10mfd parallel = 2.711But beyond that, I have to believe that they would not have gone to that expense to do it that way, a small film cap would be cost effective vs all of that mish mash. My head says that overall you are correct, but I'd...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover @imhififan Your basic advice is sound... It would put you in the league.... 2.7, but if the original caps are electrolytic and they change to a quality film, the ESR of 3 capacitors alone can be a difference of up to another ohm or more...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover @imhififan ..... Quick question for you. I don't know this tweeter, so I have to ask. Have you seen the impedance curves of this tweeter? Are you considering the inductor to ground? Are you considering the 3 ohm resistor in series? Not being ...
Bass Vs speaker efficiency In general, low bass extension comes at a cost and that is Sensitivity. This is only a generalization, overall, the balance of mass vs motor tells the story, but regardless of the woofer, anytime that you add mass, FS goes down and so does Sens...
Mystery Capacitor and the Tangent RS4 Crossover You've got 12/18 slopes with impedance compensation on the woofer and frequency compensation on the tweeter.
Driver breakin period, what’s the science? The changes are measurable. As the suspension breaks in, you can measure a difference in QMS and typically a bit In FS and QTS. The biggest difference in sound definitely occurs in the first 45 minutes of played at a decent volume. (I'm not one ...
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way? Saw the recommendation for the Sumo Polaris... it is the most odd duck of the Sumo line and will sound different than Pass. However Jim did not design this amp. Rich May did it. Jim would Never use mosfet outputs. The original Andromeda was a J...
YOU MUST audition Kerr Acoustic Speakers When I read this post, I IMMEDIATELY said this is written like and ad or review. This is definitely a Sales Pitch whether uwiikz is affiliated with this speaker line or not. Wait, let me guess, they work best with Holton Amplifiers??? Your site sa...
New cartridge $500 range I wasn’t going to chime in here because I don’t have experience with many of the cartridges mentioned here, but as I thought about it, I’ve had several in my time. Including Dynavector, Denon, Several mid to upper end Audio Technica, A Sumo Coil, ... |
