new pink floyd sacd's
Actually there has been some links to Amazon posted in those threads and from what I can see they will be expensive. Hopefully once the record company feels they have made enough $$ they will release less expensive sets. But I do plan to invest. Al...
What are your favorite phono cartridges?
The Lyra Kleos, I have about 80-100 hours on it and puts a wrinkle in my wranglers each time I listen.
Stereo Imaging
That reminds me of when I was sampling different cables for my system. When ever I would try a certain cable I would hear a wider soundfield and deeper into the room. So I would immediately jump up to set my pre/pro to 2 channel as I thought I had...
Do you ever doubt you ears ?
I don't doubt my ears as much as I doubt what I am hearing. As mentioned at the end of your question, evaluating cables is most difficult for me. It takes several attempts to decypher the differences once the process begins. Blind Tests are best bu...
RIP Gil Scott-Heron
I discovered him years ago, though considered a rapper by some I never saw him in any catagory but his own. "the funeral will not be televised"

Missouri Tornado prayers go out to all
Amen to that! We get so caught up in our dailey lives we lose perspective. It can all be gone in just a few seconds.Fellow Gon'r Mofimadness lived through one about three years ago, his home was heavily damaged but by some miracle his vinyl collec...
Best used VHS player....
I second the Mitsusbishi S-VHS I had one and sold it but should have kept it. I also have a JVC S-VHS 9900-U that does a very good job on sound and video. I still use it wo mainly watch old concert videos that haven't made to DVD yet.
I'm looking for good pre amp with bass & treble
Any McIntosh will have tone controls. What is your budget?
Your best chair you listen to your gear
As bad as MoFimadness considers my "air musicianship" it far exceeds HIS singing along with Taylor Swift. Kinda like a Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin duet.:)
Your best chair you listen to your gear
I use a chair and ottoman. I used to use a La-Z-boy with a high back and it blocked the sound of the rear channels for 5.1 applications. Also I usually sit forward on the edge of my chair as it makes it easier to reach my Ludwig 9 pc. Air Drums. o...
Classic records reissue - very disappointing
It seemed that as Classic Records got older their quality diminshed. But the earlier Led Zep, Peter Gabriel, etc releases were quite good. I find that the Mobile Fidelity releases have all been good. How ever with Chad at Acoustic Sounds on the th...
Anybody in Denver go to Audio Unlimited yesterday?
As Mofimadness indicated John Barnes owned and operated Audio Unlimited with a partner Carl whom has decided to close the business and advertised to the local customer base of a "warehouse sale" to be held Saturday last. I was curious if any Audio...
FM tuners - Are they OBSOLETE ?
I recently added a used tuner back into my system and though I don't use it as much as I thought I would, I plan to keep it hooked up. So days it is noce to have on while doing dreaded house chores. But I do think their days are numbered with inte...
