He has a couple of LP12's on the second floor of his home/store and I have noticed that the LP12's play flawlessly regardless of people walking back and forth, where as before the occasional skip occ...

Help me w/ small towers-bedroom HT/music system If music isn't a top priority, I use Mirage Omni's in my bedroom. They don't form such a sweet spot and can delivery pretty good surround sound with a good sub.

I Like DVA-A Over SACD, ....and You? I think it depends on the recording. I like both, but more SACDS since they offered more titles that I wanted. I will say this all DVD-A releases sound excellent and I have had a few SACD releases that probably sounded the same in redbook.
MFSL moody blues: are they all so good? I have all the Moody Blues MFSL on both CD and LP and have never been disappointed. They are expensive, and I had hoped that MFSL would someday re-do them as they did with the Little Feat-Waiting for Columbus LP. But that is probably just wishful ...
How to restore faded veneer due to sunlight? I can't think of any solution except as Jab suggests. You may before you completely strip them get a wood finish scraper and remove the varnish and apply a Watco type finish. The real proble you have is first: veneer is thin and you won't get many...
Lyra SPT and poor eyesight I prefer the Lyra brush, I agree it can be difficult but good lighting helps. I also like the soft bristles as I don't feel that it can ever cause any damage.I would recommend trying to overcome and issues you have and stay with it. JMHO.
French Doors I assume that you say "we" just moved in, that the french door is a major WAF. So have a door custom made for the opening. Then install curtians on the sound room side to buffer the reflections inheirant to glass doors. 65} is a little wide but I ...
Advice on first MC cartridge My first Lyra was on Rega P25 and after having a Grado, Benz Glider I wanted a MC Cart and the Lyra Lydian was a wonderful match for the table and arm. In the price range you provide you can buy a new Delos or a good clean used Helikon and a Skala...
This site will be a happy waste of productivity : I think the fact that you (or we) haven't heard of most of these brands, and that they are winning awards, gotta ask who's voting? I suspect strongly that it is, the dealer, he is hoping for some novice to see these and jump on them like a cat on ...

Grounded vs. ungrounded power cord Celtic66, beat me to the PS Audio reference. But it raises the question why all cable manufactures can't provide that option in the male plug? I think it is a great idea as in some enviroments removing the ground pin reduces or eliminates hum. Jus...
The Mechanic OK but what is the McIntosh pre-amp he is using? It is dated compared to the rest of his system. Also at the end I thought is was interesting that the pre-amp was not included in the "explosion scene". Theory: he was killed because he wasn't prope... |
