Linn Akiva or Lyra Skala ?
Although I can't speak to owning either. I have a LP12 that had a Troika and I sold it to get a Kleos. I never looked back. The Lyra sound to me is much more involving, detailed and deliveres accuracy without an analytical approach. Bass is much m...
Alvin Lee
I never did hear. But as a side note I heard yesterday that Peter Green (founder of Yes) was found dead in his home Sunday, apparently from a heart attack. Back to Alvin Lee all I found is it was complications from surgery.
Parasound A51 or Mcintosh MC205?
I was looking at the MX121 myself. But the salesman told me it was based on a Denon Pre and that stopped me. I have Statement D2v that I would sell to do so. But when McIntosh sold to the same company that owns Audio Research and Sonus Faber I tho...
The Weavers
Jazzcourier, that is just some funny Sh&t, LOL thanks.Although maybe it just "loomed" for some.
Parasound A51 or Mcintosh MC205?
I haven't hear the Parasound, but own a MC205 and have owned a MC7106 and a MC7205. The only encouragement I can offer on the McIntosh side is that the MC205 with the newer amp design employed by McIntosh, is that it is a vast improvement over the...
Another audio dealer closes his shop
At the end of the day it is sad to see any business close. I am sure the owner of this shop you mention could blame the internet and probably be correct in doing so. Some dealers never got out of the "snobbish" attitude and they really have become...
McIntosh MVP851 - origin of transport
I can't be 100% sure on the model, but it is a Denon transport, but I think it is the same as used in the 3910. Possibly a 5910.Hope that helps
Upscale RCA Jacks - McIntosh
I have owned many peices of Mc gear and have never had any jack or connector fail. I have had other brands that repeatedly broke the RCA jacks as the plastic became brittle. But as far as sound quality, I really think continuity is the goal. Some ...
MX-130 power up problem
Mc-tastic!As a Mc owner, it is always good to read how these piecesjust continue to live on. I have owned both the C39 and MX 130 and they are well built.
The Audio Research Reference 10 is here $30k
I have had a chance to hear this at my dealer that had it on display at RMAF last fall. It is a nice piece but at 30KI have come as close as I ever will. Unless I win the Powerball of course. It was playing thru Vandersteen 7'sand a very impressiv...
Anyone tried the Lyra Kleos in a Linn EKOS SE?
I have standard Ekos on my LP12 but have the Kleos and love it. I have heard one at my dealer on a Radikal with Ekos SE and it sounds wonderful. But his table also had the Keel and the Khan as well. I have a desire to buy another table but if I ke...
LINN MAJIK LP12 PACKAGE
I would suggest that before you buy a New Majik that you look into a good used LP12. I think in the long run you will have a table that affords you much more opportunity to upgrade. You can contact Rick at audioalternative.com as he 1st) does an e...
Linn LP12 vs. VPI Classic 1 and 3
Daveyf, I own an LP12 and have thought about changing to another brand of table. In my area it seems that the only dealers that display TT's are doing so with MusicHall, Rega or a few VPI. I did find a dealer with a Classic II and sat down to list...
NEED AUDIOQUEST TYPE 8 OR CV-8, PLEASE HELP.
You might check with hcmaudio.com, they seem to carry a lot of Audioquest product. It seems like they carry discontinued products too
What kind of power cord comes with expensive gear
This may echo some of the other responses but,I am glad they don't offer more than a adequate powercord. That give me the option to buy what I prefer. The debate about powercords can go on forever and a equipment manufacturer would be foolish to en...
