Best color s to paint dedicated listening room
I have experimented with different colors in listening rooms. It is my observation that certain colors change the reflections of the high and low frequencies differently. I have settled on a golden but dark brown which imparts a certain flavor to ...
Speakers made for close placement to front walls
lots of posts on Audiogon about the subject. Many many choices in speakers.
Good musical sub under $500
I respect Hsu Research's ability to make musical subs for very reasonable prices. I have a larger one, the VTF-3R Mark 2. The warranty is transferable if you buy used and the owner will transfer the warranty for you. The VTF-2 is nicely priced as ...
Dynaudio Audience 52 vs 52 SE
One thing that Dynaudios don't have is sibilence. Their dome tweeter is a fabric and doesn't ring or sizzle. Just sweet and accurate sound, not fatiguing.
DIY cables Vs Mass market cables.
There are many opinions about DIY vs manufactured cables. Search the forums and you will get more opinions than you need. My two cents....Blue Jeans cable RCAs terminated with Canare using high stress bonding, excellent noise rejection, low impeda...
Dynaudio Audience 52 vs 52 SE
Porziob is correct. It is the amp, not the speakers. Dynaudios are demanding loads and the more reserve power the better. I would like to audition the 52 SE as well. i was hoping someday to use the 42 or 52 for surrounds with my Audience 70s.
speakers for wall bookcase
My solution was this: Von Schweikert VR-1 + Creek 5350 SE + Njoe Tjoeb 4000 with upsampler. All about 12 inches deep, the speakers sound great, are not rear-ported, and overall a great match. Good luck.
Classe and Rega CD Players
I am still in love with my Classe CDP- .5 It has an analog sound and plays most all the CD-Rs. It has HDCD. I have compared several different CDPs and it is wonderful. It is as close to an "analog" digital player as I can afford.
Setting up a subwoofer
I have enough experience setting up a sub and was doing it today. Use the Radio Shack analog meter and research the adjustments to each frequency. If you can't find them let me know, but there are many posts around that list them. I have had to mo...
Importance of wall behind listener?
A few random ramblings and this is an issue I have wondered about for along time. I think it is interesting that so many live performances have the best seats in the front third and, in larger venues, the back is very open. In all the indoor orche...
Interesting discovery
I appreciate everyone's responses. I will leave them as bare wire and keep them clean with contact enhancer.
Great sounding close to back wall speakers.
It depends on how much you are willing to spend. For less than $1000 I recommend Von Schweikert VR-1s. No actual rear port, bass to 50 Hz in room, beautiful mid-range and a quick coherent speaker. They can actually sit in front of or in bookshelves.
Can anyone suggest a good 2-channel amp for $1500
Creek 5350 SE.

Von Schweikert VR1 against Spendor 3.5
I see there has been no response yet, so I'll add my thoughts. I have not heard the Spendor but own the VR-1s in a small secondary system and recommend them highly. They are especially good at soundstaging, detail and mid-range. I appreciate them ...
