Von Scheikert VR4jr in a small room . I am auditioning the VR-2s for my large room but have not heard them yet. The VR-1s are the only VS I have, but in that room, they are phenomenal. I don't believe the size of the VR-2s will be the limiting factor. It will depend on the spl you wan...
Von Scheikert VR4jr in a small room . I had the same issue with a room 10' x 13' with vaulted ceilings and a bookshelf on the long wall. I liked the sound of the VS so much that I got the VR-1s and added an REL sub. I love the soundstaging and the high frequencies are excellent.
Amp for Dynaudio Audience Cmil,I have been along much the same route. My odyssey was this: Audience 70s/Denon receiver, then used an ADCOM multi-channel amp and the Denon was a pre-amp, then Outlaw M200 monoblocks x5, then replaced the Denon with an Aragon Stage One. My ad...
best phono-stage for 1200$ max. Graham Slee ERA V Gold is $1000 and depending on your other equipment and tastes is a great phono pre-amp.
Need a Sub Cable... To me the most important factor is rejection of noise, such as EMI and RF. Low frequencies are more easily handled by cables in my experience. In addition, long runs are more prone to interference. Recently I used a Belden cable from Blue Jeans ca...
Need subwoofer help. My REL 108 paired with Von Scweikert VR-1s, the bottom end is finally there, below 40 Hz and under $700 new. Happy hunting!

What don't you like about these speakers? Kkm,Nice summary of the two speakers. Good info in that post...things to listen for when I start comparing speakers.
What don't you like about these speakers? KkM and Mrtennis,I really appreciate the sincerity of your responses. I haven't found another forum with so many caring people and so few troublemakers. I will contact my friend and go to his house to audition the Maggies. I will place them in a w...
What don't you like about these speakers? Bartok fan,I understand your view, but it is difficult for me to actually audition speakers becuase there aren't enough shops nearby. Speakers are so individual that my ears need time to adjust and appreciate them. I am sure there are very many in...
What don't you like about these speakers? I am very fortunate that my measurements of in room frequency response are +/= 3 dB across the range, except for a hump of 6-8 dB at 40 Hz. I am sure that is the room and where I sit. That is something that can be tuned with room treatments. Other...
What don't you like about these speakers? Mrtennis,I have a friend in St. Louis who is a Magnepan dealer. He closed his shop but still carries the line. He is sold on them. He has a pair hooked up at his house, not sure which one. I have considered them and like the idea. I don't know if ...
AH Njoe Tjoeb 4000. Is it bad idea? I love my NT 4000 with upsampler. I play it through a Creek 5350SE and Von Schweikert VR-1s and REL sub in a small room, near-field. I have compared only to my Classe, by swapping it in and out of my other system. Clio09 is correct. It sounds diff...
Corner speaker placement Maybe a picture or diagram with dimensions would be helpful? I am not expert enough, but others here are. You might consider something like near-field listening (I don't know the Merlins) which may lessen the effect of the room? Good luck!
Good Advice The balance between owning something for the sake of owning it, because its expensive, pretty, or exotic, vs. the pure enjoyment and pleasure it brings to you. They are not mutually exclusive, nor incompatible, just difficult to balance in equal m... |
