Turn Table Cable Length
As usual, Atmasphere gives a complete and accurate answer. In case you don't know it, OP, Ralph is an expert.
2021 audio system wish list
Improve the battery power on my phono/pre. I'm using alkaline batteries now, but really should have NiCads. Trouble is that optimal charging requires an individual current source for each cell, so that's a project.
Speaker upgrade for classical music
@audiokinesis makes a good case for forward and backward firing speakers. I note that panel speakers, like Magnepans and ESL's, do that naturally. Without phase control of course.I like that sound very much. A good complement is record or book she...
Speaker upgrade for classical music
I say Magnepans. I have owned several, and for symphonic music they have no parallel. ESL’s are more detailed, but you need at least two pairs to do a symphony properly IMO, which is my current system.Bryston amps work well with either. Not state ...

Sorry if I went over the top, @audition__audio , but I like @schubert  and respect his expertise.
Is Not Responding To An Offer Just Plain Rude?
I suspect that it's just contagious.

@audition__audio RE: "Your prejudices are pretty textbook"You say, "Perhaps this isnt clear in this thread but follow his history and perhaps you will see."So, not textbook, but frequently expressed opinion. When you wrote 'textbook', I thought yo...

Is Not Responding To An Offer Just Plain Rude?
Sellers who don't bother to state all the conditions, like 'in person pick up only', shouldn't be in business. IMO.Same goes for sellers who accept $275 when $300 asked 'in a heartbeat' ((8.3% off) and feel insulted by an offer of $6000 when $6500...
Cables 101, new student, first question
Another thing to consider is environment, specifically, RF environment.Canare Starquad has an RF-rejecting geometry and very dense shielding, yet somehow remains flexible. Cross-linked polyester dielectric, which gives nothing away to teflon. Acce...
Cables 101, new student, first question
Right, asv. No doubt I could improve on Canare microphone cable and ETI connectors, but at what cost? Another Koetsu? No thanks.
Cables 101, new student, first question
Cakyol:Physics? What's physics got to do with it? This is religion!
Cables 101, new student, first question
Northman, I suggest that you audition before you buy. You have a functioning system and you know how it sounds. Make any change prove itself before your lay down your dollars. You may find, as I do, that cables are the least cost-effective upgrade.
Music bleeding at zero volume
Actually Three-Easy, I don't think that Miller is any more correct here  than he usually is.Turning the volume "down" does not preclude zero. I would never design or build a component which did not have a zero. Especially volume. The OP's concern ...
