Best speaker brands for transient response Magnepan sells a bass-only speaker, DWM, crossed over at 200Hz, but flat to nearly 5KHz. I use two to augment my pairs of 2805’s and 2905’s.’They are a push-pull design and are very fast.
Wanna take it to the next level? Buy MORE speakers! Peter Walker of Quad fame preferred stacks and arrays of his original Quads. He also like to put two Quads at right angles to each other - and I like that solution the best. I use it for two pairs of modern ones. @audioman58 is also correct. Som...
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album It takes a recording from a war zone to understand the Emperor. 'Cause when the Emperor gets lost, lots of people die, Beethoven as he meant it to be.
Nottingham spacedeck belt I think that is Origin Live. I use their belts too - very good.
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album How about that! There's a VC 81080 on Discogs right now, it's the one with a German eagle on the cover.
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album A bit more mainstream. Music and interpretation to blow you away: Maurice Andre, Bach for Trumpet. Angel SZ-37728 Interpretation is incredible. Unobtainium, but you haven’t really heard Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto (#5 for piano) until you hear ...

Speakers that disappear Your local porch pirate should be able to help you with that. Or, you might consider a Magnepan dealer.
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! @deep_333 That is true. A factory has all sorts of QC in place, which only makes sense if you are making a bunch of them. For a short run, it's easier just to troubleshoot individual units. But chassis volume is at a premium, and hand-work, lik...
Are your records a health concern? The article also addresses Mahler's point: "(is) vinyl ... the superior listening medium? Spoiler alert: it's not ..." Which, it seems to me, tells you all you need to know about this source. But, to address his major point, a little perspective ...
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! Maximum resolution and detail should NOT impair musicality. When it does, IME, it is because resolution and detail are confused with distortion. IMO, to maximize resolution and detail without increasing distortion requires components of the highe...
Are your records a health concern? According to Mastrangelo et al (2003), industrial workers who breathed in high concentrations of PVC dust in an industrial environment had a 20% increased risk of lung cancer for each 2000 hours of exposure. Doesn’t sound like my listening room. ...
Are your records a health concern? But then, The judge and the jury they did agree!
Record cleaning and realistic expectations I certainly fall into the category of "obsessed with the rinse cycle." I can hear the difference with a lab grade US machine. YMMV. |
