What time do you wear?
Nice to see some fellow watch freaks too. I have IWC, UN, and Tag in my collection, with the IWC being my favorites. I have STOWA which I like because of its history. Here are some links to my watches:UN:http://i474.photobucket.com/albums/rr108/tb...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
Ghosthouse, it was GREAT! I last saw them in 1991 @ The Backdoor in San Diego. They sounded tight, and invigorated last night. Of course I prefer their old stuff from Bread & Circus and Pale but the new stuff is good too. Their sound has defin...

Chillin to some Amos Lee before I head out to watch Toad the Wet Sprocket in concert. Haven't seen them since my college days. Pretty pumped m
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
I wouldn't say Stillpoints are junk. There is no audiophile product that is universally liked which is the fun/frustrating thing about our whacky hobby. For me, the Stillpoints worked great under my Ps Audio P3 but did nothing when placed under my...
Computer audio, I am not convinced yet ......
08-24-13: CerrotI think anything other than an spdif out via a sound card is a LARGE reduction in sound quality. Why would we go through the abomination of converting a usb signal into high end audio when you can have sound card doing it natively?...
Hegel h200 low level listening
Please keep us posted on your impressions once you get it. I too listen at lower levels. So far I have found my Accustic Arts Power 1 integrated to be very good in my small room but all the good reviews Hegel has received is intriguing to me.
Modding Synergistic Research MPC to Galileo status
Based the overwhelming feedback on this thread I just sent my MPC from a Tungsten power cable to Mike for modding. Btw, listening now without the MPC and the sound is too bright! After only about 1 hr and I am getting a little pain in my ears whic...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
This makes me wonder that perhaps Stillpoint's approach isnt the best for monitors which may seem to benefit more from coupling to large mass like to floor to deal with airborne vibrations whereas floorstanders have more issue with internal vibrat...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Thanks Charles. I am just concerned about raising my speaker height too much with the Apprentice which would have the points both facing down and up.
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Yes Teajay, interesting findings. I have tried Stillpoints under my components and speakers. I got great results with Ultra Minis under my AC regenerator and more subtle ones when used under my DAC and integrated amp. Results have been less impres...
What Product Did You Overspend On?
Probably my entire system. I am certain I could get 90% of the performance for much less but whats the fun in that...its all about spending ridiculous amounts to wring out that last few percentage points of improvement.
If you were setting up a music server today ...
Hey guys...I am not an expert by no means but why is everyone against wireless? I have been using my Sonos for over 7 years without any problems. I also have some HTPCs that I use to stream 1080P movies wireless as well. Again no issues. I am usin...
Out of the game for 5 years...looking for help?
Like you I was out of the game for 6 years. Sold all my over top, crazy expensive gear. Just got back in this year fully focused on just enjoying the music and keeping my system within a reasonable budget. The good news is for folks who are into c...
The Audiophile's Wife no longer putting it out?
I just read the entire blog from start to finish. What a crackup! Grannyring, let your wifey now shes a talented writer. I love her subtle play on words! Can you please continue to do crazy things so she will keep the blog alive?? :)
experiment with isolation??
Ptss, I have my entire system plugged into my P3 which never draws more than 109watts. I have the digital and analog plugged into different outlets of the P3. Absolutely no complaints. I am very very pleased with the results.
