Speaker Cables, One side longer- bad idea? Bwhite- Veddy interesting.
Labelling CD-Rs Thanks folks. I've got Sharpies a plenty and thought they might work, but was concerned about the ink "bleeding through". I thought I'd benefit from those who've been there before. And I will check out that web site, Ramstl.
Which HT Receiver would you buy? If you are interested in movies only then the Yamaha is fine, but I own a 995 and don't see it as the center of a 2 channel system. FWIW, the DSP modes do nothing for me; they DO NOT sound realistic.
"Phono" Cable - Necessary if you have RCA outs? I think the key word here is market. If you believe that the megabuck ICs offer good value, then you'll want a megabuck "phono" cable. I have no idea if they are worthwhile.
"Phono" Cable - Necessary if you have RCA outs? Its just terminology, as far as I remember. RCAs at one point were often called phono jacks/plugs. Specialized cables that use DIN to RCA are sometimes called "phono" cables because many tonearms with changeable interconnects use a DIN at the tone...
Rega and VPI tonearm owners - READ THIS Sd- If I'm not mistaken(and I very well could be), the coupling of the counterweight to the arm is also part of the Origin-Live mod to the Rega Rb250. But if not, I'll take your advice.
Better Cables.com I have their component video cable in my system, looks good but have never compared it to any others. It appears to be three color coded Canare cables in a common braid (at least the terminations look just like the ones on my Canare digiflex 1). P...
best preamp under 500 for cheap, poor student Subdoofus- We are all just jealous. No need to apologize for your good fortune.
Cable Confusion Serves me right when dispensing conventional wisdom unthinkingly. I have always had similar thoughts as yours regarding the long IC, short speaker cable debate. I never have had the opportunity to test them, but have heard the same mantra from so ...
Hobby, Hobby, Hobby? Depends on what your involvment is. Too me its a hobby, avocation, whatever. To you its a passion (always) and a profession (sometimes). Use whatever term is accurate for your situation.
Anybody have this problem with a CAL CL-10? For the last few months, I have had a problem with the display lighting being intermittent. I am told it has a separate power supply which may be acting up. However, just yesterday, the sound cut out for a while, and then just as suddenly, came ba...
Excellent Component Direct or Why don't you just view both options yourself and decide?
Digital vs analog widescreen tv With respect to internal doublers, just remember that they will "double" all of the noise, garbage, etc. With a good signal they can be very good, but they can also make a marginally acceptable signal look pretty lousy.
Who R U? Hi John, hope to hear from you here frequently. Any check out the old threads on C&W and Guilty Pleasures, you'll find more than a few of us dip into the country, bluegrass, and traditional wells.
Single disc player vs.multiple If you like the convenience of the multi-disk option, try the California Audio Lab changers, CL-5, 10, and 15 (I think). They will be a significant step up and the CL-10 is a former S'phile Class B (FWIW). |
