A question concerning ethics
Ditto. Of course, there is the verification question.

The advantage of the Vandy's is that if you're being unheard, very few people find that they sound poorly in any particular set-up. there may be better synergys out there, but trying before buying doesn't seem to be an option here.
Can CD Players be altered to play CD-Rs
FWIW, I just bought a Pioneer PDR-05 (used). It copies in real time and the copies play just fine on my CAL CL-10, my Eclipse unit in the car, my wife's Acura unit, my son's Sony walkman and his boom box. I have to use the CDR-Audio disks and I bo...
Audiogon Grading Scale - the gold standard?
Wow, cosmetically perfect!!! I guess you better buy new. I do agree that the AGS has objective stds, but you can also detect inflation pretty easily. If they rate it a 9 but its 2 years old, they obviously don't follow the scale closely. However, ...
A bi-amping question
Dbwl- I don't think Argent is talking about bridging. If so, I think it still depends on the circuit design. Not all amps double up when bridged. But anyways, the ? is about bi-amping. With respect to bi-amping, I have no idea what that would mean...
New to Vinyl and need immediate help
Bryston has a good reputation and could certainly serve as (at least) an interim amp. For $1500 you can get a used ARC (SP9, 14), CJ, or BAT (VK3i)pre w/phono or even a line stage pre and a Lehman Black cube.
Audiogon Grading Scale - the gold standard?
Its not the grading scale, its the grader. No one could ever describe this as excellent on any kind of objective basis. Sorry you got taken. Your are right, artani is wrong. I've always found everything on this site to be as described, and have ha...

1953- tell me where I can get a pair of used 3A sigs for under $2K and I'll have an MO in the mail before you can say Vandersteen!
Who R U?
HI Driver. Nice to hear from you. What kind of audio gear do you have in your truck? I spend a fair amount of time in my Jeep Cherokee, and the road noise is a real drag.
Frustration with buyers who make offer, then don't
Not to much to add to Driver, Cornfedboy, Rosstaman. It comes with territory. Upside is the net lets you buy at 50% of retail. You have to live with the downside. Its a pain that not everyone is courteous, but a deal that falls apart with a jerk i...
CD Scratch Repair Kits
Obviously, it will depend on how badly they are scratched. In one case, the aluminzed layer was gouged out and no amount of polishing could fix that. But otherwise, it has fixed every CD or CD-ROM I've tried it on.
Beware of PayPal
That is correct. They have changed the default and they actively discourage you from using your cc. I believe that they want you to establish an account with them, have the funds, and play the float. I just ignore their warnings about paying inter...
Do I really need a pre-amp?
Jpshinn- don't mind cfb, sometimes he gets a little grouchy if he hasn't won a lawsuit or two in the last week. He's actually a pretty good guy and very knowledgeable. He does has a good point- lost in the archives to search, and there is a thread...
Rega and VPI tonearm owners - READ THIS
Obviously I was mistaken. Should have remembered, "better to remain silent and be thought a fool....".
CD Scratch Repair Kits
I have used the CD doctor or skip doctor or Data doctor or whatever you want to call it. Its a cheap piece of plastic #$%^, and arrived partially broken, but it actually works!!! It buffs out scratches, some so severe that the disk would skip or s...
