Trouble tracking new Norah Jones LP
Madfloyd. The damping fluid is for damping the arm. If you take the VPI arm off of its mount, there is a small cup=like affair with that big spike that holds your arm. That is where the fluid goes. Whether to use fluid at all is up to you. You did...
XLR-RCA: Adapters or Custom Cable?
Id call the manufacturers to get their opinion. YOu could do damage. Adapters alway ruin the sound...a custom made cable with RCA on one end and XLR on the other is just a longer adapter.
Which speaker for my system?
I am using 5A's. Both the Quatro and 5A's have built in powered sub-woofers which thereofore take a big burden off of your amp..which makes the amp perform better as well. The quatros are set up to match the accoustics of your room by your dealer ...

Stickman451...I'm using a VPI Superscoutmaster with a VPI 10.5i arm. The table has the heavy platter, the SDS of course, the mini-feet, no anti-skate, Benz LP cartridge with Anti-Cable balanced (XLR) output. I also have a Gingko dust cover which m...

Fine Swiss watches are pase... Twelve dollar watches keep better time, and don't need oiling and referishing. I think my Rolex sucks.
Weird issue with my VPI... please help
Madfloyd... The VPI Signature 9 incher works extremely well with Dynas and Benz's. The "signature" is mainly the use of Nordost tonearm wiring (there is additional tonearm tube damping). I must admit it doesn't sound very good at all when new. My ...
Weird issue with my VPI... please help
VPI can be adjusted with added weight at the headshell end. If this is how the setup was done I don't know, but that is the reason Harry provides it. When I heard the VPI/Shelter table, it sounded excellent to me. Audiofiel...I'm just stating the ...
VPI HW-19 Upgrade question SAMA or SDS?
Sorry Buconero...I misread your question...I thought it was for a turntable.
VPI HW-19 Upgrade question SAMA or SDS?
Buconero117... the SDS IS and improvement not because of the trick that you can change the pitch, but because the SDS provides a constant and reliable electric source for the motors. The sound IS improved with its addition because the turntable re...
VPI HW-19 Upgrade question SAMA or SDS?
Frogman..I am a professional violinist and have played in many orchestras over the many years of my career. If you listen to classical music I know you have heard me play. I carefully tune in the warm-up room as do everyone I know, and very rarely...
Anti-Cables with NAD and Vandersteen
I'm using Anti-Cables on my Vandersteen 5A's. If you read my previous posts, you will see that I tried all of the highest price cables and Anti's were the keeper.
VPI HW-19 Upgrade question SAMA or SDS?
Unless you have absolute pitch, spot on correct speed is not very important... close is fine. When we tune up before a concert, we have a strobe that provides an "A" in the warm=up room. (When orchestras tune up in front of the audience, its only ...
Weird issue with my VPI... please help
The fact that Shelters do better in fixed bearing arms is not the issue. Madfloyd's complaints are not of optimumization, but of severe frequency response errors. I suspect a bad cartridge the replacement of which will sound very good indeed. ..ju...

My VPI 10.5i is solidly affixed to the turntable. There is no movement...I tried hard to move it. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone reading this with a VPI arm has play in the base of their arm.
