I doubt that changing cable will be worthwhile
I'm a believer or
Cable is very system dependent. What sounds good on one system can sound awful on another Evidently, you lucked out...
OHm micro walsh series...
In the "old" days, there was only one Ohm speaker which used one 15 inch walsh driver. It was VERY hard to drive..at the time Phase Linear was the only amp that had enough power for them...and they were constantly clipping when you turned it loude...
Cartridge/Phono-Pre Break-in?
Regarding magnetically attractive Shure scale. Thanks to those that revealed that some Shure scales are magnetically attractive. My advice is if you get one, test it with a magnet, and if the magnet attracts, return the scale.
Single wire or bi-wire for Egglestones Andra II
I am using Vandersteen 5A's which are recommended to be used in bi-wire configuration. I tried various setups..jumpers were clearly the worst and true bi-wire the best. If you read what Richard Vandersteen says about bi-wiring, he recommends indiv...
Cartridge/Phono-Pre Break-in?
Jmurick..When you get your Sure scale, I found it very accurate if you position it on your turntable platter so that the front (right side when looking at the mirror) 2 feet are hanging off of the edge of the platter, then follow the normal direct...
Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions
I just got an E-mail from Singapore that my Mint protractor is on its way. I'll report back when I actually get and use the device.
Cartridge/Phono-Pre Break-in?
If Shure made them from steel, there would be a problem. I have 2 Shure scales. One I've never used...just got it as a "bonus" when I got the 10.5i arm a couple of months ago. I checked that one with a magnet and my old one that I got about 1956 o...
TAS Recommended CD Tweak….
Yes that's true...but to me quite unbelievable. I just have a regular Sony burner in my computer. I used to make CD's for friends...then I noticed that the copies sound slightly better than the originals. I don't know why, but there it is.
Rowland owners which speaker you use & recommend
DCstep...Have you ever heard Botti in a live conert? That's the way his trumpet sounds. Bring earplugs.
Cartridge/Phono-Pre Break-in?
DougD...Why do you think the Shure scale is no good...I think its perfect for us. I dont see the worth of the 100 dollar outlay at all.
Weird issue with my VPI... please help
I am using the Benz LP, and it took this cartridge a very, very long time to really come alive...maybe hundreds of hours. Maybe it was the Nordost cable in the arm, but whatever...be patient. You have a very low output cartridge so you have to be ...
what do you do now?
Sure there is...go to the website and you can update it to many levels of perfection..some of them costs thousands of dollars.
XLR-RCA: Adapters or Custom Cable?
If you have to use adapters, you have the wrong component. I once blew up a Rowland amp with an adapter because of a non=standard ground termination with the xlr, Rowland interface. By all means...try it...
Cartridge Recomendations for VPI HK-19 MK IV w/Gra
There are lots of cartridges that have better soundstage, depth, air, clarity, etc., etc. than the Grado Sonato low output. They have a kind of brown coloring to them, and I think with little effort one can do much better. (Dyna or Benz)
