VTA adjustment for VPI 10.5 tonearm
Powerdoctor..the new VPI feet for the rim drive are very clearly soft. I found this to be very important for the rim drive to operate at its best (I'm sure next week there will be something to make it better).. anyway, the felt under the harder ru...
rega 3-24 verses other similiar priced tables
I would get the VPI..then you can always add upgrades to it to make it even better if you wish.
A Little Technical Help with the VPI Strobe
I used to manufacture these power cords myself. I don't any longer, however, Audio Connection in Verona, NJ might still have a few left. (G&G Discoveries) I'm sure John will send you one with your credit card number on approval. They are relat...
ipod classic vs nano
The classic is hard drive driven, and the nano has a flash drive. The classic has better sound...use the best earbuds you can find.
I believe I spotted in
I heard them.. They are surprisingly good for B&O, however they are WAY too bass heavy for me.
VTA adjustment for VPI 10.5 tonearm
Here I am again....by the way...85, 60,42, means nothing. All those figures are relative to your particular setup. When you spin the dial around 360 degrees you are back to the same number, but with a different VTA.

oops - forgot something on my post above.... For the best sound don't install/use the anti-skate gizmo.
upgrade from JMW 10 to 10.5 fpr my VPI Aries 1
There was only a very small improvement when I went from a 9 Sig. to the 10.5i. In addition to the SDS, and the heavy platter...the best improvement comes with the rim drive.
A Little Technical Help with the VPI Strobe
Yes...that's what that adjustment is for. Also, I found using a better power cord on the SDS makes it a bit better.

VTA is not as important as proper VTF. Make the arm horizontal first. I do this by taking an index card, folding it exactly in half so that the blue lines are horizontal. I now have a tent/guage..so that if I get way down to avoid parralax errors,...
Switch to silver for a treble boost?
Silver has absolutely nothing to do with treble sparkle. Some silver is neutral sounding..some have rolled off treble, and some...only some have a high end "sparkle"
Has anybody tried the BPT-9 powercord?
Jimman...try this... Take your power condition out of the system, and listen again. You can always put it back...just try it. I never met a power conditioner that didn't screw up the sound somehow.
Speaker cables.. Budget again.. With a twist...
Go back to Home Depot and get THHN. These are relatively thick and they don't bend well, but there is nothing better at that price point. You will need 4 cables...all the same length. Put spades if you can find them on the ends..or rings if you ca...
Which part reduces surface noise most?
My take is that the record cleaning machine has little to do with this. In order to get the clicks and pops on another plane, your system has to be capable of 3 dimensionality. That means, that your CD player and/or tuner has to exhibit 3 dimensio...
DPS turntable
User friendly is a wonderful term. Especially for someone with little experience with this stuff. The Well-Tempered arm is very difficult to adjust. You most likely will get better performance and satisfaction from a different arm. I just looked a...
