Is a dimmer noisy when it's turned OFF?
...then there are dimmers that don't make noise (that you can hear), but kind of pixilate (make fuzzy) the sound of my system....actually, its the ceiling fan that does that. I searched many hours to find out what was wrong to find the problem. 
Cartridge and Phono advice for Classic 3
If I were you, I'd consider a high output cartridge which would eliminate the added expense of the phono pre. There are many good ones that would mate well with your arm on the Classic....

Bo...violin (string) sounds are actually "sawtoothe" waves.....extremely difficult to reproduce electronically. Its a rising pulse followed by a sharp drop....you need fast equipment to cope. ..here's some info that might be interesting. The hair ...

..just a thought but the main bearing that holds the platter needs lubrication or replacement. That's what I would check first 
How important is +- 0.1 db from RIAA curve?
I am a pro violinist, and my instrument with the same strings, bow, rosin, etc. sounds different in every concert hall I have ever played in. I therefore wonder how important a minor electronic deviation is.
