Alpha Core AG-1 Cables with Vandersteen 2Ce Sig 2 To me, John at Audioconnection is only 1 level lower than Gd about audio, but for me, I would get as many different cables to try as possible. ..that's what happened to me when I first got my Ayre components...I thought Ayre cables to be best, but...
Sumiko Blackbird Soundsmith Rebuild Level? I agree with Wntrmute2....let Soundsmith make the decision.
Verity vs B&W I had but not a fan of those B&W's
$8000 budget on Pre-amp I'm a big Ayre fan....(totally Ayred out). Excellent customer service, battleship construction, and fabulous sound. Of coarse, all components have to be tried in your system for interaction pluses and minuses.....what fun
spring loaded platform non-suspended turntable Pryso....I suspect that you are right, but remember too that sound travels as well through springy floors (and walls)...low tones travel unimpeded through windows (listen to the delivery trucks going by), but the glass is reflective of the higher ...
what cables/interconnects should I try? Cables sound different in different systems. You have to try them out in your system to hear what they sound like. I'm using Anti-Cables after trying out dozens of those high priced brands that are known to be "best".

SME 20/2 w SME V arm- Cartridge recommendations ...Judy, judy, judy..... have you had any experience with the LPS??
Ever notice most audio magazine cover are white? Saves ink,,,,
spring loaded platform non-suspended turntable In MY experience, non suspended turntables need a solid foundation to the center of the earth... Spring aids, ruin the sound.
SME 20/2 w SME V arm- Cartridge recommendations Atlas,Anna, Universe, LPS, etc....the best you can afford. Black is good, but there is better.
Hum from SAMA also...if the feet are rubber and old, they should be replaced with new ones easily procured from VPI...aged rubber feet turn hard and transmit what sounds like hum through the cartridge.
Best tonearm for London Reference Cartridge evidently, Vlad and I have the same suggestion
Best tonearm for London Reference Cartridge The Decca is a great cartridge, but sends a LOT if energy back into the arm which ruins the sound. If it were I, I would use the new Dynavektor arm...this arm will tame those resonances and bring out the best that cartridge can deliver.
Why does the VPI motor thump ...just thinking....maybe because my system is totally balanced may have something to do with the silence of switching off my VPI |
