Should I use the fluid damper for SME 312S
Elizabeth is correct.....some cartridge/arms may benefit from damping. Use the least possible ....add drop at time and listen again. If the sound gets better, continue, until the sound field collapses...take out a drop and you're home.

Not Cerwin Vegas, unless you love boomy bass
Gallo 3.5 or Martin Logan Ethos?
Macallan 7 (did you ever have the 50 yr old?) anyway....I never liked Martin Logans... I knew the guys there who are very nice, but I would choose Gallos.
Need "warm" interconnects advice
why would you want to color your system with cables? I look to the least influence a cable provides.

Have you heard the VPI 3D?
VPI PARTS or SERVICE
...I recommend patience. VPI will respond - they are very customer minded.
Dumb VTA Question
In reality, everything affects everything. You aren't done when you change the height of the arm..you must recheck how the raising/lowering affects the downward pressure. Once that is adjusted, you must make sure the stylus still sits in the absol...

In MY experience, cables sound different attached to different components. MIT just might be better with a certain amp, and maybe not...the only way to tell is to try it in the system and listen. I have an all Ayre system and bought Ayre cables. A...
Alpha Core AG-1 Cables with Vandersteen 2Ce Sig 2
To me, John at Audioconnection is only 1 level lower than Gd about audio, but for me, I would get as many different cables to try as possible. ..that's what happened to me when I first got my Ayre components...I thought Ayre cables to be best, but...

Verity vs B&W
I had but not a fan of those B&W's
$8000 budget on Pre-amp
I'm a big Ayre fan....(totally Ayred out). Excellent customer service, battleship construction, and fabulous sound. Of coarse, all components have to be tried in your system for interaction pluses and minuses.....what fun
spring loaded platform non-suspended turntable
Pryso....I suspect that you are right, but remember too that sound travels as well through springy floors (and walls)...low tones travel unimpeded through windows (listen to the delivery trucks going by), but the glass is reflective of the higher ...
what cables/interconnects should I try?
Cables sound different in different systems. You have to try them out in your system to hear what they sound like. I'm using Anti-Cables after trying out dozens of those high priced brands that are known to be "best".
spring loaded platform non-suspended turntable
Fingerpaws...oh yes you do have acoustic feedback...its just not at a frequency that you can call it that..however, it is blurring the sound coming from your turntable. Your fix (given the springy floor), is to mount a shelf on the wall for your C...
